Help me date this Gios... 89 or 90

I've read here that the first digit is the year (IOW, "7xxxxx" is '87). Anyone know for sure?

The fork is not chrome, but it's a match. I've seen only one other photo on the web with this fork in blue. More photos:

B-17,
I can't help you to pin the exact date down other than to say that it is a later GIOS compact and it is very, very clean, others will chime in as to the exact year
I currently have a red one waiting for a little TLC.
Good luck with the build...
Ben

I have that exact frame/fork set except my fork is chrome. Oria tubes.
Not sure about the date though...I set mine up with vintage Dura Ace 7400, and it's my fave climber. Only drawback is that I can't go wider than 26 for tire sizes...

  1. compare your frame number to those on the Register
  2. ask Marco to confirm the build year. [email info@giostorino.it]
  3. take the required photos and enter it on the Register.

that is what I did

pix of mine...

hello,
I rode mine to work today...here are some pix (no glamour shots). My serial number is not that far off. I have chrome forks and I took off the large GIOS stickers (they were tattered & I don't like how they look...) Maybe not a bad idea to get a replacement part for the chrome RD hanger. If that gets bent, you're out of luck...They are getting hard to find, and I had trouble sourcing the part...
I like the geometry of this frame, great climber, and very nimble bicycle...

Thanks so much for the replies. I did email Marco last week and he said '91, based on the Oria tubing.

Very pretty build. I'll have pics of my build up in the next couple of weeks.

I'd love to see your build...you'll have some issues with the tire clearance and the seat post tube and you probably won't be able to fit anything bigger than a 25...I did manage to get a 28 once (can't remember the brand) bit it measured less than 28 of course, and there was only enough room for a business card btwn tire/tube.
I'd like to see a pix of your build when you're done...
