Hayes HFX-9
I am new to disc brakes, and I am getting used to my HFX-9's. The lever is pulling pretty deep, and I was wondering if there is any option to shorten the throw on these things without bleeding?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Believe there are 2 options (if you are sure the brakes don't need bleeding):
1. Where the lever meets the lever body and you will see a small 2mm hex adjustment screw. Screwing the adjuster inwards pulls the lever outwards away from the bar. Early owners of this system complained about the adjustment screw backing out and need to be checked/readjusted before every ride. Hayes did sent out replacement locking threaded grommets to solve the problem, and would expect that you might have them already installed...but you can always send Hayes an e-mail and they'll sent you out a pair if you are having adjustment screw holding problems.
2. Buy the Hayes SRL (Short Reach Lever) if you have small hands.
Might want to check the condition of your pads and rotors. If the rotors are black, you will need to clean the residue off with isopropyl alchohol or some other solvent and wipe down the pads.
