55 miles this evening in 2:50. Windy going south, then the winds died some on the way back. First warm day in a bit with 77 degrees and thunderstorms predicted that didn't come about.

I rode 15 miles of MTB trails. Long work hours and family obligations have kept me from riding very often lately, so today's hot, humid and windless conditions really wore me out. My shirt and shorts were soaked with sweat when I finished riding. It felt great.

58 miles, SGRB, over the Santa Fe Dam to HWY 39, then returned home same route. Sunny, 74 degrees, usual 15 to 20 mph head wind on the return. Met a cyclist at the rest stop at the foot of the dam. His two buddies dropped him as they passed me, they were doing 24 mph, he was doing 20. Said he had suddenly lost 10 pounds, stamina was gone, hyper activity, trouble sleeping and anxiety, he is 34. Told him to get to the doctors asap, sounded to me like his thyroid was out of whack. I am no doctor however my wife's side of the family has thyroid problems with these symptoms. Hope he does go, he seemed like a nice young man.

47.2 miles today with temp in the 50* to 60*+, windy but the sun was out mostly. What a feeling to be out on the bike again since we've had mostly rain since the begining of the month and today's ride was only my second so far this month.

Just 28 miles, but 17 minutes of the intervals were pretty brutal. Nice evening out there tonight, sun, light winds and mid-60's.

We did an easy 30 miler today because we have The Tour de Lincoln (CA) tomorrow, the day before AMGEN starts on some of our roads. Two groups from out club hooked up for what turned out to be a low-key ride for coffee. You may notice that this picture ain't natch'l.

I did 9.059 miles today. My actual ride time was 57:29 although I was out an hour and twenty minutes. My Ave HR was 105 and my pace was 9.5. I did hit 18.2 mph but a steady 6 mph wind cut that down pretty fast. It was 82 degrees and humidity was 53%. I wanted to stay out longer but I only took one bottle of gator aid and my inner voice said not to proceed without enough of liquid. So I called it a day. I turned out 137.91 Watts and my VO2 Max was 53. The VO2 Max is important to me because I have heart failure and my lungs fill with fluid. Cycling helps me expel a lot of it. But it felt good.

36 miles. Longest ride so far this year. The wind made it a challenge but it felt really good to push a bit.

50 mi. in Shelby County on a CIBA ride. Mostly flat - a few mild ups and down. The fast guys (and gals) continue to mess with my self-esteem. I'll get over it.

Enjoyed 75 miles on the tandem during the I Care Classic, a small organized ride in Morgan Hill, CA. Would have been 100 mi., but a downed power line closed a road for which there was no detour.

After commuting by bike the last four days, I decided to settle for a short Saturday ride today. I did a short loop south of Crowley, then headed north to Fort Worth, following my commute route until I got to City Cyclist, where I spent a couple of hours chatting and drinking coffee, and ran into forum member Doohickie. I ended up with just over 40 miles. Great meeting you, Doohickie!

Went out and did 102 miles this morning. Around the 80 mile mark shifting became a bit weird. Turns out rear shift cable was frayed inside the shifter.
It was beautiful out too, even though there was a 11 mph wind.

I posted this earlier today in C&V. I guess it should go here too.

Got out today (finally), Waltham through Lexington, Bedford, Concord to Carlisle and back, 45.15 miles. Stiff headwind on the way out but the ride back was quick!

Some bike club ride must have been in progress. In Carlisle center is a general store, and out in front was sign for a wine tasting and about a zillion bikes. Don't know how well they be be returning home though.

Got to use my new wireless "computer" today. Interesting results. At a stop in Concord on the way out it said my top speed was 65.8mph. (??) Either it saw some wireless interference or I hit some wicked bumps as the magnet was passing the sensor. The distance was what I expected though. I made a note of the mileage (16.02) and reset it. That would give me a direct reading on the Concord-Carlisle loop. I also checked it when I got back to Bedford and it read 1776! Well, actually 17.76, but that's close enough to be cosmically significant. Top speed on the return run was 30.9mph, not a surprise. I actually had a few occasions to spin out in my top gear on the return, which doesn't happen very often.
The beer tastes might good now.

Addendum: It occurred to me that if I added a few more of those little magnets to my wheels I'd go a lot faster.

Family time today. Three of us up and pedaling....

4 miles RT to pick up a few things, then my daughter and I went downtown to drop off a bill payment. She was so enamored of the sights and sounds that she hadn't seen in 2-3 years, that everything after the first 2 miles was an OMG moment! We wound up being out for that ride for over 2-1/2 hours! Even a light drizzle couldn't dampen her spirits. We had to have done a good 16 miles (MTB's).

Urban riding is like no other -- the torn-up, ragged sidewalks are like baby-head rock trails, road construction is a rush, and there is a primal existentialism that just takes you outside time. For one of the FEW times, she experienced that feeling, too; it was a proud-parent moment if ever there WAS one!

First metric century of the year! WooHoo! Woulda' gone faster if I'd been alone, but 18.25 mph average was good enough for my current training level.

Participated in the Tour de Lincoln today. I won't write a ride report, as it was pretty uneventful. By the time I rode to the meeting spot for our group, then to the start of the ride, then to the Frozen Yogurt place after lunch and then home, I had ridden 70 miles. The ride basically goes up or down every road with the word "hill" or "grade" in it -- 3800 feet of climbing in 62 miles. Our club jerseys were everywhere. Here' me (on the right) and a buddy at the first rest stop.

I did 107 miles today with 8000 feet of climbing and headwinds for hours. I'm whipped.
