Not in my playbook. The very first cordless drill I bought was in 91. A 7.2 volt Makita. Ultimately the batteries got too expensive and I started down the Dewalt road. I very much enjoy keeping ancient tools going as long as I can. Of course I now have a single 20v drill too. The main one I want to keep going is the hammer drill. We operate in stone and concrete only in these parts, structurally anyway.

Meh. Riding solo in zwift doesn’t feel right to me. I feel like I am working a lot harder to achieve the same power that I am able to maintain outside. Only time it feels like outside is when I am in a pace group ride. I’ve re calibrated my trainer multiple times but it always feels the same. It’s actually pretty annoying. I have a buddy that uses his all the time, and the speeds he achieves on zwift he can’t get remotely close to outside. It’s almost like his is set up easier and mine is set up harder or something. Just another reason why I hate using the trainer.

Part of the diesel craze brought on by the oil embargo or one of the jumps in oil prices. Then the craze ended. One year there were around 13 different car makers offering diesels, the next year it was like 2 or 3.
GM took a gas engine and converted it to diesel. No turbo meant no power, they smoked and tossed main bearing caps out through the oil pan. The first thing to happen was the head bolts would stretch. When you took them out they would have an hourglass shape. This allowed the combustion to aerate the coolant and the first thing the driver would notice was no heat from the heater.
There were nearly new cars waiting for head gaskets and new bolts. Nobody wanted to do it so I was hired for that, specifically. I think it paid 5 or 6 hours and took me a day and a half. It wouldn't have been worth it if it paid twice as much.

After Friday's rather chilly ride, I prepared better for today's. Long sleeve base layer and jersey, knee warmers, wool socks, full-finger gloves. I figured I might need a vest for the chilly part along San Mateo creek. I took it off after about 7 miles. Put it back on 4 miles later and wore it the rest of the ride! Apparently it was never warmer than 59, and the average was 54. I know that's short sleeve jersey time for folks Back East, but I'm still a Californian.
The ride itself was pretty good! The usual Sunday 59 miles. Slower than usual. I thought I felt a headwind going South and sure enough I was right. Basically 4-9 mph from the Southeast, so the whole trip down Canada was a couple mph slower than normal, leading to an overall slower time than usual. Still not as bad as the day it was in the mid 90s!

former neighbor owned a service station where I worked on-and-off during the 70’s / early 80’s - high school and college years
he was especially impressed with the quality (for the $) of the early Toyota Celica and Honda Accord … good peek into the future

Ordered a bunch of wheel bearings for the herd. I'm going to upgrade a couple sets to Ceramic hybrids and a couple others to Steel but ABEC 3 or better. I have one Nuvation that is stiff. And a couple others that aren't as smooth as I'd like. Since I have to do the work...what the heck. The hub Dr. Sells kits to upgrade most wheels. But for the steel bearings I went to Amazon. I wish they're filter was better. Like trying to pick fly sh#t out of the pepper.
