Well, I bought some tonight. Bought 1.25 gallons for my lawn mower. I wish I had an electric mower because obtaining fuel is a PITA. Or ...better.. no lawn at all.

Last time I bought gas was Fall of 2011. We were in drought in 2012 so didn't mow that often. That time, I pulled the bike and trailer up to a gas pump and caused some chuckling. This time, I tried not to make a point. Parked at a distance and walked over to the pump with my gas can. Managed to sneak off without any guffaws.

What about you? Buy any gas lately?

Late December. Took about 6 gallons, from the August 2011 fill-up before that. I frequently wonder about selling this thing, but it's an excellent small car (98 Escort) that will outlast me, and costs nearly nothing to hang on to. Could be my aging bod will be grateful to still have it one of these days.

Why did you need a trailer to buy gas for a lawn mower? Or if you were trying to "make a point," what was it?

I've been using my bike to buy lawnmower gas for the last 11 years here and always ride right up to the pump, put gas in a plastic one gallon gas "can," pay with the credit card right at the pump and put the can in the rear basket. Easy-Peasy. Never spilled a drop, nor received a guffaw. If I didn't have a basket, rubber bungee cords would work just as well.

I think I would guffaw if I saw someone sneaking up on a gas pump for a gallon of gas in order to avoid some sort of embarrassment.

I had some chuckles pulling up to the pump with a one gallon can in the rear basket. Since I want to keep more gasoline around the house for my backup generator as well as for my lawn equipment, I purchased a five gallon can. Since the fueling station is only a couple of blocks away, I now show up on foot with a five gallon can strapped to my hand dolly.

The trip also brought me to the local grocery for food. So it was a food and fuel trip. The can is only 1.25 gallons, but I'm not sticking a gas can in my pannier, so I brought the trailer.

And, to further explain my position, if I feel like riding up to the gas station with a trailer attached, I will.. I'm not in it to conform to people's expectations of how I should arrive at the pump....

I have gotten some "funny" comments also. Do you get pretty good mileage? That's something you don't see much. Get a horse! Once it was raining and a guy even asked me where my windshield wipers were.

I rented a car and bought a tankful this past March to visit my mom and sister. Prior to that, I purchased a few tanks in the winter of 2011 to drive a disabled friend to some medical appointments on the other side of the Cascades. While I do mow the lawn at my community garden and I even use a gas-powered mower when it gets too long or wet to be done with a reel mower, the city provides the mower and the fuel, so I don't technically buy it, at least not with any funds that I have any control over.

He wrote he was NOT trying to make a point AFTER he changed his gas buying ways and parked at some distance from the pump and walked up to the pump to get gas. Logically he was trying to make some kinda point previously. What "the point" was is the question.

April. Got on a rideshare with someone from craigslist, and paid for half the gas. I also drove the car (was a nice convertible audi). It was really fun on the highway. Wouldn't trade it for my Bianchi in the city though.

I go backpacking with friends several times a year and always give gas money to whoever drives us to the trailhead. But I don't remember when I last put gas in a vehicle I actually drove; it has to be at least 3 years ago. No lawnmowers or anything to fuel, since I live in an apartment.

Filled the tank in the car last week... shocking how much the price can change between fill ups as the price has gone up nearly $1.00 / gallon in a very short periods of time.

My gas mower is a pretty efficient beast and I do not mow my lawn more than once every couple of weeks so I might have to fill the fuel can once a year... usually toss it on any bike with a rack and take it to the filling station which is almost close enough to walk to if I was able to walk better.

Last November, the Sunday after Thanksgiving I rented a car for the holiday. This weekend I will be buying gas, going on a MTB trip to Winthrop, WA have to pitch in.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday... that was the company car. Big diesel dually on Sunday but that was the first fill up in 3 months.

Not having a car makes mower fuel a lot more difficult to obtain... so I usually mow every 2 weeks in the rainy season and every month or so later in the summer. Just want to stay ahead of the Weed Commissioner... who actually visited a friend of mine.

I mowed the lawn today and was pretty bitter about time lost... I could have gone for a ride!!!

Bought a gallon of gas for the mower 2 years ago. Bought gas for a car 4 years ago -- the last time I drove.

I fully expect to buy gas for the mower this year, too -- and more next year, since a riding mower is on the list for next spring. Have a BIG yard....
