question on a Trek bike??
If this is the wrong forum to ask this question I apologize. I am a newbie to biking and this forum.
I am thinking of buying this bike and I want any feedback on it before I purchase it, I also wanted to know if you think it is worth 175.00$$
Trek Multi Track 720 17in. 21 sp
New tires and rims, quick release, good shape, full shimano front and back brakes, crank arms are shimano altus , and kick stand is aluminium. Paint job is fresh and professional... Weighs about 10 lbs total
Thank you

No way does that weigh 10lbs. 25-30 is more like it. I doubt the paint is fresh too- maybe freshly washed and waxed.

I think i'd shop around, for $175 you might be able to get a nice new Fuji or Schwinn (from a bike shop not walmart..), last year my wife got a brand new Trek 3700 with a warranty and a front shock, as well as the tektro V-brakes, all for $150 from our local bike shop. That Trek multitrack in it's best condition is still probably rockin the cantilever brakes, which are harder to adjust and don't stop as well as V-Brakes. If you have time, perhaps just ride the bike around a little bit as a test ride, then go to a bike shop and test some bikes there in or near that price range. If you still like the multitrack then go for it.

I'd be leery of whomsoever told you it weighs 10 pounds. It doesn't. If you weighed it yourself - your scale is broken. Keep looking around.

Those old Trek multitracks are solid entry-level bikes. IF it were well-maintained and in good shape, I might ask 100.00 for one.
Certainly the guy is fibbing about the weight, and he certainly didn't re-paint the thing. Hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like canteliever brakes; you're looking at a bike that's likely about 20 years old.

I agree with the others. Look around for something else.
Looks like s/he was originally asking $325.

This link will provide you with alot of information on the Trek 720:
https://www.bikepedia.com/Search.aspx?Q=trek+720
You can use the BikePedia website to also get specs on other bikes.
The Trek 720 is a decent bike. IMHO...the price seems high to me. I like the $100 price mentioned above. Beware of bikes that have had the rims and other major parts changed. For what reason? That bike came with 700 rims. Best bikes to buy used are those that were not used and abused.
