1974 Peugeot PX-8L for sale

The Bike was sold yesterday afternoon, a local sale on Craigslist. Got a whopping $151 for it, $51 for the Pawn payoff, and a cool $100 in my hand. I'm happy. Thread is now closeable. Thanks for the interest, but you should have bought it. One heck of a deal.

https://jacksonville.craigslist.org/...841444333.html

Well, this one was my baby, but financial considerations have me needing to sell, it, ASAP.
Everything from a stock 1971 PX-10 was placed onto this one, a 1974 Peugeot PX-8L

$400, shipping included, or, if not sold in a few days, make me an offer. {Paypal F & F)

Using CL ad for pics and description.

Vintage 1974 Peugeot PX-8L. Every component on the bike came from a 1971 Peugeot PX-10. Stronglight, Simplex, Mafac, AVA, etc, are period and model correct for a 1971 PX-10. Included in the sale are (2) clamp-on seat-bag loops, a Simplex (later-year) Delrin BB cable guide, and a small handful of spare parts for OEM Simplex and Mafac stuff.

1974 Peugeot PX-8L frame, Aztec lugs, Inoxydable, 57cm x 57cm.
Simplex Criterium RD
Simplex Criterium FD
Simplex Prestige half-clamp-on shifter band with Simplex Criterium levers.
Simplex q/r skewers w/ winged logo
Mafac Racer brakes w/ new Mafac Pads
Mafac Racer levers with OEM Mafac hoods and adjusters
AVA Bars and stem w/ OEM-repro Cilo Cinto bartape.
Stronglight 49D crankset
Stronglight Competition headset
Stronglight Competition BB/Spindle
Lyotard 39d pedals, french thread, untapped.
OEM Ventolux pump, seals rebuilt, works great.
Panaracer Pasela 27x1 (25x630) tires, maybe 500 miles on them, newer tubes.
Weinmann Alesa rims, rebuild to hubs w/ 15ga straight-guage SS spokes.
Normandy Luxe Competition hubs
Atom 77 rear cluster.
Ideal 80 Type Record saddle, no tears, well-used with room to tighten.
Cheap bottle cage with slimline clamps.

So just to be clear.
There is a $175 shipping and handling fee based on the price listed in your CL ad ?

It sounds about right...weight, plus size of box and taking into account thechance he'll ship it coast to coast.

Shipping can always be adjusted if the distance is closer to seller.

Correct. The shop I use does an excellent job, never had any damage or complaint. They use Fedex ground, and it is professionally packed. If the cost to ship is less, I'll refund the difference. If it is more, I eat the difference. Nothing worse than shipping a bike cross-country, receiving an ebay complaint, then having to refund the purchase price, and pay to have the person on that end (same dilemma as me, do it yourself or pay to pack well)_ ship it back to me (if they feel like it), so what am I going to do from Florida, if the bike is in San Jose California? They'll end up with my bike, for free. Ain't worth any more hassle on my end.

That's the reason for the cost.

This bike is beautiful and my size, . I love the color and the parts are great.

This is the original build thread, right:

https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...8-rebuild.html

You did a fantastic job on this build.

The PX 8 differs from the UO 8 in that it originally came with fenders and a light and so has a different treatment for the rear mafac brake? Isn't this actually a UE 8?

I really, really don't need another bike but if this were local to me, I'd own that bike by now.

Well yes and no. Yes, it has a vertical-mount brake bridge. Yes, it has all those braze-ons. Yes, the frame geometry is exactly the same as the UE-8/UO-8's. But, it is a French-market bike only, wasn't available in the U.S., and, like the PX-10, has an Inoxydable frame. The weight difference allows it to be only 2 pounds heavier than a PX-10, me having swapped out every component from a PX-10, comes in at 23-1/2 pounds. The relaxed geometry makes it a racing bike that's comfortable. Think abut that for a second. It's a dream to ride. If I don't sell it by next Wednesday, I'll keep it, since my need is immediate. By next week, I''ll have my next Uncle Sam check, and it'll be a moot point. Now or never, Bikemig.

Ah,no. The PX-10 used Reynold 531 in that era. The touring bike that paralleled the PX-10 was the PX-60, which also used 531 throughout.

What part are you saying "Ah,no." to? Nowhere in my reply did I say anything about what material the frame was made of, just that the PX-8L has an Inoxydable frame, which it does. It's a treatment, which the PX-10 also has. If you'd clarify your "Ah,no." comment, I'll help you see the answer, clearly. Anything else is unfairly attempting to throw shade, Aubergine. Why the attempted ambiguous lecture?

No shade intended. If you remember, I have a couple old Peugeots myself (including an AO-8 of the same vintage as yours) and they are superb riders.

Then, if you know about Peugeot's and can read, why are you attempting to correct me, when what I said is not incorrect? If you weren't attempting to be negative in a better-than-thou way, you would not have begun your wording with "Ah,no.", would you? Nope, you wouldn't have. So, if you wanted to apologize with "No shade intended", that isn't an apology, it's a thinly veiled admission of something which isn't an apology, merely your supposed intentions.

Try again.

Neutral corners, please. No fault, no blame - let’s get back to discussing the bike, which is actually very nice.
