Sorry to hear about the head shake. All three of my BBS02's (mine, wife, son) are extremely smooth and quiet. Is the motor the origin of your shake? The "good" aspect is that steel doesn't fail precipitously so you should be safe.

The motor applying power about/over 500w, under load like climbing hills.
As you say, unlikely to blow apart like other materials. I keep a close eye on the paint around the BB/Seat/headset for any signs of cracking. That would be the first indicator.

I think that having a second wheel set for your bicycle offers a broad range of its "usability", if that's a word.
Having a minimally compact pedal assist device in your front wheel could be a big, BIG, winner too.
So a bike with a second wheel set and another independent powered front wheel with minimalist battery pack would give you five bikes in one.
I understand the request of the OP. So whats out there? I do not really know.
But what a worthy engineering problem!
