Adjusting Front Derailleur Trim
Hi All,
I got my 105 equipped bike back from a local shop after shifter adjustments (for both front and rear). Everything works perfectly except for the front derailleur trim (small shifter on the left side). When on the smaller chain ring and the smallest gear sprocket, there is no "click" when pushed fully inwards and no trim adjustment is accomplished. I can still hear the chain contacting the front derailleur cage.
If this is a simple adjustment I can make myself without returning the bike to the local shop, I would appreciate knowing what to look for and how to do it.
Many Thanks in advance!

You expect noise when cross chaining that severely.
Just a fact of life.

You could see what happens if you turn in the barrel adjuster a couple clicks. That might/will have an effect on the high end shifting.
See if you can find a happy balance.
Further adjustment might be had by also backing out the L screw a tiny bit.
Just keep track of how much so you can return to where you started.

I think you need to turn the barrel adjuster out a bit - this will have the effect of pulling the FD outboard slightly. This is the adjustment you want, because in the small ring/small sprocket combination, the chain will rub against the outboard side of the FD cage

OP- You might mark the L screw with a felt tip marker or similar to help keep track.
Test ride and also check large:large to see if you start getting rub there as you decrease rub in small:small.

If this is 11 speed I suggest following Shimano's instructions. FD setup is different from how we previously did it.

This is news to me - 105 10-speed has a second adjustment on the left brifter, for trimming the front derailleur lateral position? Does it amount to a cable tension adjustment? I'm familiar with 10-s Ergopower, not Shimano.
