I put a new seat and drive train on my fiance's Neko 2. I used a 10 speed cassette, chain, shifters and RD that I already had. I picked up an SLX 2X10 Crankset and FD at yard sale for $35. Seat was $10.

Degreased the drivetrain, washed the bike, and dry-lubed the chain.

Put on Shamino Deore derailleurs and KMC X8.99 chain. Shifting is really nice. Up and down.

Replaced the crankset , bottom bracket, and cassette on my Trek FX2 with Shimano Claris drivetrain.

First day out and my legs are shot! But, it was so much fun!

Replaced an OEM Axis 1.0 after 2,400 miles with a set of Mavic Ksyrium Pro Disc.

Just took it for a ride - 4 miles there & 4 miles back again... Actually I took the boyfriend's bike, as mine has a bit of slip on the chain, which is very disconcerting when you have a huge lorry hot on your heels...
Need to get the bike guy to look at mine - he says the chain needs to bed down as he put a new chain on it, though it doesn't look like a new chain to me... Boyfriend said maybe new to the bike, but possibly not new out of the box lol!
He adjusted the derailleur & renewed the middle bit (was black, now silver) where it was landing up inside the spokes when adjusted right over, renewed the crank & adjusted the brakes (V ones) & renewed all the brake cables. Cost me £75, so wasn't really happy with the chain slipping, as it wasn't before the work was done.

Get a new bike guy. 75 pounds and the chain is slipping? Not a new chain? Never heard of a chain needing to bed down. When you put on a new chain and it skips, it usually means you need a new cassette/freewheel as well, but both the chain and the cassette are better be new. You got a new crank too? Depending on the part, it could represent a good part of that 75 pounds....

Bought a rough Trek 7200 for $20. All original parts including tires. Paint's not great, pretty gunked up drivetrain. It definitely spent a winter or two outside. A few spokes missing but rims are decent. No pedals and the grip shifters were hanging by their cables and broken.

Ordered shifters, tires, tubes and a new chain.

I'm mostly a vintage bike guy. Did a bunch of reading about sram compatibility, shocks and managed to determine that its a 2005 (thanks bikepedia.com).

I'll have most of the parts later this week. Still trying to decide if I want to swap out the fork for something rigid (read a lot about that too).

The bike is for a friend who recently had his stolen. He can't afford much so, when I stumbled across this Trek, I knew it was for him. I've spent about $40 on parts. I'll need a few spokes and a trip to my local community bike shop to use their truing stand. I haven't pedalled an inch this weekend but I'm getting excited about getting this bike back on the road.

I took mine to the car wash. The 44 miles on the new river park trail was going good till the last 10 miles were in a downpour. The slop on the trail looked like wet concrete on the frame.

I do not notice much difference at cruising speed between the two. However get up and go from dead stop with Mavic I felt I can get moving a little quicker.

Instant Drive 360 is definitely much better than the OEM freehub, feels solid very fast-engaging. The only thing is the freehub kind of annoying loud when coasting but I can live with it.

Other thing I noticed that with Mavic vs Axis was crosswind. Bike stay planted, does not feel like it want to change the lane when riding in crosswind condition.

Just ordered a pair of Shimano Saint pedals for my Roam-2 through Chain Reaction Cycles. Also ordered a pair of $10 each Vittoria Zaffiro 700x32 tires for whenever the Kendas that are on it wear out. Can't beat that price with a stick.

I installed the Tiagra STI shifters and Avid Shorty Ultimate cantilever brakes. I started the process of cabling up everything with a Jagwire Road Pro Complete cabling kit. I put the shift cables on first and just from eyeballing it they are working well.The back brake is installed and cabled but needs adjustment and I just started on the front brakes. I have been concentrating on riding lately but I am hoping to get this one completed in the next two weekends.

I finished up the brakes today. The setup was a bit fiddley at first but I puzzled it out. I must admit that setting up the Avid Shortys is a lot easier that any other cantilever brake I have set up. And you can get the pads centered exactly and quickly.

Two more jobs left before a test ride, readjust the preload on the cranks and fit a new chain. I have not put bar tape on the bars yet as I want to experiment with handlebar/shifter position. As soon as I get a setup that I like I'll put the tape on.

I bought most of a Trek 7200 Multitrack about a month ago. It was a mess. A little bashed up, all cables a mess, covered in dirty oil and crud.

On Saturday morning I was feeling inspired.

I started cleaning it up around 8am.Gorgeous sunny morning. By about 2pm,it was wearing new cables and housing, shifters, grips, chain brake pads and tubes. Took it for a gentle test ride. Brakes a little mushy but it shifts well and likes to rolls. A few bits left to do but a very good day.

The Trek store where I bought my bike sent me a $20 coupon so I bought a new Bontrager gel saddle. The guy in store gave me $25 instead so I got it for 20 bucks. I also personalize her a bit to. Doctor said to limit the weight on my hand so still haven't gotten to take her out yet but I'm enjoying tinkering. I'm starting physical therapy this week, so I hope to be riding again soon.

It was new stem day for my FX 2. Have only been back to riding for about a month, after several years off, and rode 18,5 miles yesterday - and ended up with sore, numb-ish, clumsy hands. They're already back to normal, but wanted to avoid further issues so went back to my local Trek store and went from a 7 degree stem to 17 to get some weight off my hands - I'm a large Clyde, so it's a good bit of weight/pressure on my hands, so it's good to move it off of them until I drop more weight and build more strength.

The LBS is fully booked until the 24 of July, damn it . The wheels are very light and look well made. I can't wait to get them fitted.
