More squats for me. I think one of the reasons that I like getting back to weight works is the noob gains that i get this time of year. After not lifting for 8 months, the weights shoot up pretty quickly until I am back to where I left off. That and it makes me feel boss when my quads get big

I rode in this morning and it was unusually dark. Today there is something happening in the sky. I'm unclear, but things are wet so I hid inside.

^ that sounds terrible!

Next week I work again. Today I did the Stahl Ride. Was supposed to be close to 70 miles with over 6000 feet. But it was wet, and the ride leader wasn't feeling great so we stayed this side of the hills and kept it short. Still hit a few short climbs. 53 miles, 3300 feet.

It was kind of fun as it's something I don't really get to do that often. Think viking horde burning down village ride but done in a way that is structured to make sense.

30 sec on/30 off x 20 min x 2 sets Tuesday. That hurt lots. Cross should be fun.

3 hours low Z2 yesterday, on the only non-raining day for a 14-day block, if the forecasts are accurate.

I hate the rain.

Ran 3 miles last night.

Sprinted briefly, realized that's the pace the fastest marathon runners do a full ****ing marathon at. Not quitting day job..

This week last year I was doing 5-peats on the local 12 minute hill @ 100% FTP. Today I struggled to do 2. What happened?

Head cold today, so I took the day off and did DayQuil intervals. Yay? Then still cooked a tasty dinner for my hardworking lady, and baked cookies.

Is it just me or are those first real efforts after a recovery week just painstakingly hard to get out the door?

IIRC this time last year the weather was glorious instead of cold and wet, and you hadn't just gotten over playing hopscotch in a crit.

Thats why I don't take recovery weeks.

Truth be told, haven't touched the bike since Saturday and think tomorrow's hammer ride will hurt.

1-1.5 easy. Trying to decide if riding in sort of cold rain is counter productive, but I really don't want to ride indoors yet.

I would ride in the rain so much more often if I had a spot to wash my bikes. Putting them in the shower is just such a pain in the ass.
