Great pics and ride reports, everyone! Lovin' it!
Three of us had a nice ride today, Pastor Bob, Prowler (Todd), and myself, plus Todd's sister Sally for half of the ride. We rode the Northern Rail Trail from Boscawen to Andover and back, 44.75 miles by my GPS tracking, a bit less by Bob's, a bit more by Todd's thoroughly C&V magnet-based "computer". Not quite a half century but the longest I've ever ridden on gravel.
At the start:

One hundred miles to Boston, except we are going the other way:

Far enough into the woods that even the road crossings were dirt roads:

Thanks to Bob and Todd for organizing this and inviting me along. It was a marvelous day.

I had held high expectations for this ride, as we sorted out the plans. The day exceeded all expectations!!! Perfect NH weather, beautiful trail a d NH woods, awesome hospitality ( and, unlike some folks, I rarely use the word "awesome" - reserved for really outstanding occasions) form Bob and Ginger, and VERY FINE companions to share it all with.
As to the tree trunk in my FW, I do carry some sort of stiff wire when I ride in the autumn. Not uncommon to get twigs or wet leaves jammed up between the cogs so the chain won't track. This twig was hard to dig out but I had that wire and dig I did then on we went. A small Allen key would also work.

@jimmuller @Prowler That looks like a great ride shared with great people. This is the perfect time of year to be out there on a bike.
As for me I rode an unplanned century yesterday in NYC and Westchester Co. The weather could not have been better and I also met with @velofinds and we rode together for around 30 or so miles, he on his Colnago and I on my Cannondale Black Lightning. I had a great day riding and dodging urban traffic for good sections, the scenery was beautiful and the air clean and comfortable. I also stopped for a quick, filling, cheap and incredibly delicious lunch (slow cooked pork ribs in green chili sauce, rice and pinto beans) at a hole-in-the-wall spot in Red Hook. Riding through the city drives down overall speeds and drives up the overall time riding but it can be an equally delightful and sometimes hair-raising ride. I just took a few photos along the way.

We had a great experience on this ride! Because of all the work on our lake cottage, I'd not ridden in over 6 weeks, so this was a great excuse to put the projects on hold and enjoy the day!
Thanks to Todd for the inspiration to meet up and the PA Rhubarb Jam, Jim for logistical support, Southern Rail CDs and garden fresh cherry tomatoes, Sally for joining in on the fun, and Ginger for the great lunch!

And now for the rest of the story.....
And I got another early start this morning. Plans for riding the Minuteman trail were washed out so I headed southwest towards home. Stopped in Farmington, CT (just west of Hartford) and enjoyed the northern section of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail. You folks in CT have some lovely trails. I hope you're using them a lot. Temps in the low 50's and overcast with a lot of dampness and wet leaves/pine needles on the trail but I enjoyed the ride north for 15 miles then turned back. Drier pavement on the way back. I'll say that the towns of Avon and Simsbury have done a great job with signage to keep folks on track as the route works its way thru town. And the Flower Bridge in Simsbury is pretty neat. Glad for that wrong turn. As with many rail trails, the wildness, the forests and, in this case the Farmington river along the sides of the trail were very pretty and relaxing, even when the Voyageur wanted to run 20mph.
So wazzat? 20 miles on Thursday, 50 on Friday and 30 more today. Pretty outstanding trip, eh? Time to plan another. Plenty of excellent weather coming up.

Just a quick 6ź mile ride around the neighborhood side streets... Nothing special, but just wanted to get out and "test myself" after getting bitten by a tick on Sep 10th and have been down with a wicked fever, chills, taking antibiotics, etc... But this past week or so, the fever is gone and I'm slowly starting to feel better (knock on wood!). I don't wish this on anyone!

Took a short fall ride to Pike National park over Platte River RD. near Fairplay probably one of the last of the season for this route there will likely be snow on these road's later this week. I actually saw a bit of snow on the roadside in a few places.

Just scooting round the block
What a beautiful day it was. I only "rode around the block" as I refer to my 14 mile circuit thru the local neighborhoods. Around 3:00 in the afternoon there is hardly a car moving anywhere, alls quiet so I have those rolling hills to myself. Not epic but excellent so I'll post two snaps of my Nishiki. Lots of regard here for Nishiki but I never see any others just like my 1980 International. Dark brown with gold, brown and yellow accents (very autumn colors huh?) with a touch of chrome on the fork crown and wee fork socks. This bike rides really great - generally wants to do more and more miles. It loves going on adventures all over the Northeast.

Still pretty green here, but the crickets are singing their autumn song.
Had the PR10 out yesterday.
I've been trying to get myself to slow down lately, so naturally I would take the bike my friends and I call "Speedy." A reference to her Modolo Speedy brakes, of course.
Wonderful Speedy.
