Out with @Andy_K on our "standard" ride - the Neal Lerner Invitational route, with a stop at the South Market Cafe in Scholls. Bright, warm day, we were riding along and found this photo op:
Andy was riding his gorgeous Stella, I was riding a "facilitator bike purchase" for @Spaghetti Legs - a Shimano LX 3X9 Waterford built Heron

Raining all day. Will ride the "bike" on the L, listen to tunes from the R, and wish I was on the bike in the middle.

44 miles on the old Peugeot on a Camarillo to Malibu run. Great ride, except for worrying about a loose handlebar stem screw. Being French, it doesn't fit any of my multi tools, so I kind of angled a too small hex driver in, sort of tightened it and held my breath - for 25 miles in PCH Sunday traffic. Nice tailwind home, so I hurried to get home before the handle bars and the bike parted ways. Had a just short of 17mph average. The newly installed Stronglight 99 crankset worked great. All in all a good day on the bike.
Morning at Mission Oaks Park, Camarillo.
Foggy morning at Magu Rock regroup.

Enjoyed all those Colorado Utah pictures. Been to Moab a few times and did the ride out to the national parks. Watched the mountain bike boys go to impossible places.
Thanks for the memories.

That isn't Branford, is it?
I took a little jaunt on a jeep trail yesterday on my Fat Chance. Forgot how much an unsuspended MTB can beat up your arms, but fun all the same. Not even sure what a beat rig is (impossible to read in the photo I guess, but the sign says "Not a through road, Jeeps and Beat Rigs Only" (it turns into a legal trail a short distance ahead).

Last night (May 15) did our local Ride of Silence. It is an amazing feeling to ride the course, in silence and in fellowship with other like-minded riders, to remember our brothers and sisters who have been killed or injured while out on the road.
Wore my ADA Red Rider jersey and rode my 1989 Bottecchia that my mother gifted to me, new, 30 years ago.
My Mom passed away from complications resulting from diabetes.
Thank you Mom for your many gifts to me. I bet you are making God smile with your Cuban sense of humor and your freshly made cafecito

Got home a little after lunchtime, and immediately hopped in the shower, as the temp soared up to 84° already, here in Richmond, VA!
I enabled "Strava" on my phone, and rode 32 miles in a big loop into the next county and back home.
32.00 miles exact from my driveway.
2 hr 5 min 58 sec total time.
15.2 mph avg speed.
Here's a closer image on my C&V '85 Fuji Del Rey and the Farmer's Market across the street in Manakin-Sabot, VA on Broad St.

NC Steel Bike Rendezvous
Did the Steel Bike Rendezvous ride in Farmington, NC. It was a little more than an hour NE of where I am in Concord, so it was not a bad trip. I did the 19-miler which included a 1/4-mile of gravel (seemed longer). My Continental Grand Prix classics did not let me down. It was a light turnout, but the weather and other riders were great.

It's always great to see other folks' rides!
Earlier this week my sweetie told me to take a solo bike out some time this weekend. So today I took the Masi out on a stream-of-conciousness ride and managed 58.8 miles. It was a good day, with great spring weather finally!
The first significant encounter was in Concord Center, a support van for a large-scale pre-PMC practice ride. Nice!
Next up, some quiet miles in the mostly rural western suburbs.
On the way home I encountered two local festivals. First, Lexington's BBQ Festival! No, I didn't stop to sample any but I did think about it.
Half a dozen miles later, Belmont Day!
On display was an impressive collection of old cars. In no particular order:

Why yes, it is. I assume you lived here or know someone who did to catch that. Impressive.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to see the Fat Chance. I was tempted by a hardtail Team Chance and road Chris Chance and passed on both. Those are regrets...
~~~
Today was perfect. Headwind from everywhere, but I'll take it given the mess this spring has been.
@jimmuller, nice!
[are mentions not working?? @ jimmuller, nice!]
Yeah, I lived in Short Beach for a year while my wife did a fellowship at Yale. Spent a lot of time at that park/beach (Parker Point? It's been a few years). Lots of nice places to ride around there, can't say I miss the traffic.
My Fat Chance is just a Kicker, the base model, but it does ride really nice (looking at a catalog it has the components of a stock Wicked). A friend of mine bought a 90s Fat Chance mtb a few years ago, which inspired me to buy this. He uses his as the base for an Xtra cycle, I bought mine to haul a kid trailer and tool around with my older daughter. I have to say, it rides really nice. The local bikeshop people poo-poo'd the Biopace and nitpicked a little surface rust ("Was this bike by the ocean? This bike was by the ocean... Salt air") , but so far it's working out great for me.
As it happens, yesterday was the first time I really got to use the trailer/Fat combo, as my older daughter was growing out of the trailer by the time I got the Fat. Excuse the lack of helmet on the little one, she unexpectedly grew out of last year's helmet, and these are infrequently traveled roads/people are generally very respectful of cyclists, particularly when it involves kids (if anything you're trying to convince motorists it's okay to pass).
PS: And yes, I did notice one of my front brake pads was out of whack.
Another "final" test ride on my Inter 10. Must be the fifth or so. This time with yet another saddle and larger toe clips. Getting there. I think.
