Poor fella might have actually been bent over for close to $600 for that BSO. Doesn't make it worth anywhere near that much to the next guy, but if he's truthful about his condition, it sounds like someone upstream took big-time advantage of him.

A CD/DVD owner's manual for a product not related to computers?

"Bike has not been rode no more than 1/4 mile."

Let's see...if the bike has not been rode no more than 1/4 mile does that mean it has been rode for more than 1/4 mile?

Excellent shape, but the buyer will have to figure out the shift cable mess.

I do have to say that the picture is one of the best upside-down bike pics I've seen in an ad. Points subtracted for NDS angle.

Interesting kid's bike reminiscent of the Hanebrink fat tire design from the '90s. Sadly, the coolness factor might be lost on a kid small enough to ride it. Hanebrink passed away in January and, like two-wheel legend Craig Vetter, created many innovative vehicles.

Almost posted this in the "finds" thread, since it looks like maybe a Voyageur or the like, lugged probably 4130, mid-level Suntour, etc. Until I saw the top tube. There's even a semi-close-up of the top tube as it meets the head lug. 'Course, it's "all speculation" (right Kurt?)........

"Sense of the room" question, re. above. What's your SOP when finding local ads of bikes with potential dangers or serious problems that aren't referenced in the ad? The common one here is the backwards fork. Only time I replied was with a kid's bike, and the seller was actually appreciative. But then I read of people sending friendly "reality check" replies to sellers, and getting the nastiest vitriol in reply.

So for those who have reached out to sellers when you see something like this ^^^^^, what has been your experience wrt. the seller's reception?

Super Duper Cycle

Super Cycle Mixte bicycle

Don't recall ever seeing this Canadian Tire brand of Super Cycle before. Maybe built by the people who assembled Peugeot in Quebec.
Still not worth it.
Probably see it at the vintage bike show in Brantford.

One of these finally popped up on my area Craigslist. Someone who couldn't be bothered to look and see what a bicycle should look like.

He had it listed for $90 (snicker) within about three hours, meaning he did ZILCH to the bike. It's obvious he didn't even clean it, beyond maybe a rinse. He couldn't even bother to put a $5 saddle from the co-op (they're actually $3 at the local thrift store) on it. It sat for a few weeks, then he slowly dropped it, to, like, $60, then $50, then finally $35. I let it stew at $35 for another couple weeks, then offered him $25. He declined. Last week he relisted it, priced UP to $45 (this is AFTER sitting for close to a MONTH at $35), then today it shows up at $70.

And given the "highly informative" ad text, it's pretty obvious how much he knows about what he's selling.

Amazing condition 50cc Bicycle! - $800 (Madison)

Still needs a "knew" saddle, but the "breaks (caliper)" work great.....

Brillian timing - slap a two-stroke on what otherwise would have been a quite nice C&V MTB RIGHT as the eBike craze is taking off .

(Upshot is, the legal limit for definition of a "moped" is 49cc, so he installed an engine JUST big enough to make it a motorcycle, legally, and require motorcycle registration, operator licensing, etc.)

Reduction of liability.

If the buyer comes back and complains about the tire nubs being worn off, then one simply explains the grammatical use of a double negative.
