Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cannondale Vs. Klein

R1000 vs. Q-Pro V Or for that metter, how about the CAAD8 R5000 vs. Q-Pro XV?
I gotta that the Klein is a more eye candy, but what about ride and value?

Many thanks,

Rich G

As for the ride, everyone like a different sort of ride. Some like twitchy rides, some like soft rides. Ride them both and figure out which you like best--that, along with fit, it the most important part of a bike.

if you limit me to those two, i like klein for the amazing paintjobs and cdale for still making classic geometry frames and for making big sizes for tall riders.

this isn't the kind of info you wanted - i can't stand alum frames anyway - not that i've ever ridden a pegoretti or a deRosa alum bike or anything...

I own and love the Cannondale R1000, so my opinion is quite biased.

Sorry,
Brian.

I have ridden quite a few Cannondales. I live in Central FL and it gets hot and humid and I sweat profusely. The paint jobs on Cannondales start to go south after about 3 years bubbling up in places. I have a friend with an old Klein and its paint job still looks sharp. It seems as if Klein has the superior paint job.

So does klein, the Q-pro is a classic frame.
Klein will paint your name on it for no charge if you don't mind the wait. Thats under the clear coat. and they offer about 20 different colors and scemes, even a glow in the dark. You can costomize the bike at their website https://www.kleinbikes.com

I should be pushing the cdale, I own stock. But I have a liking for klein that goes back a long way, local(was) company and all.

Sorry,

Hey Brian,
don't be sorry that you love your bike.
What kind of riding do you do?

Pat,
do you/have you owened a 'dale?
I too love the paint on the Klein, but it seems that at a given price point you get a better drivetrain with the 'dale....

I own and love two Cannondale R1000s, so my opinion is EXTREMELY biased! I tested a Klein, and loved the paint job, but preferred the fit and handling of the R1000. Sorry...

I never thought I'd own a 'dale, but I got an '04 Optimo R3000 'cause it was too good of a deal to pass up, and I think it's the best engineered bike I've ever owned. The DA-10 speed and Ksyrium SLs don't hurt, either. The handling is great, the ride is phenomenal, no BB deflection when hammering, but it's smooth, almost like it has suspension. The paint isn't flashy, just an understated metal-flake blue, but it's good, thick stuff with a good clear-coat. The downside is that the position is a little further forward than I like... but the bike is so nice to ride that I just can't get hung up on that.

Never ridden a Klein, so I can't comment on them.
