A nicer quality 13-28t Shimano 7-speed hyperglide cassette and a Suntour VGT-Luxe derailleur for the Voyageur refit. I'm going to use the Suntour bar-end in friction mode. The derailleur feels so lightweight in my hand. Now I'm trying to decide which vintage triple crank I should be searching for to replace the gray anodized XCE crank. Gotta figure out the bottom bracket situation too, since it is original and toast - I think it is a cartridge Suntour unit.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Abus-Ultima...72.m2749.l2649. I've been using a cable lock for 18 years, but somehow I lost it 2 rides ago. The Abus weighs less than the cable lock does but provides a lot more security. Now I have to figure out how to carry it. It won't fit in my h'bar bag or hanging down from my saddle (frame too small), and my Zefal HP pump (on the seat tube) and water battle and shifters on the DT make it hard to see how it would fit hanging from the TT. I may have to reinstall my rack. Anyway, this lock is overkill for my sitch, but I decided to go for safety over convenience.

More saddles were brought today by the postman. A beautiful brown Professional that seems to be unused but looks like it has been in a slightly damp shed since the nineties, and a lightly used B17 "Champion Special" with a titanium frame, to please the inner weight weenie.

Finds like these make me really happy.

It is! Some neighbours built it out of leftover doors and windows and it has been standing ever since. I believe they are slowly getting the hang of it and last year they managed to grow tomatoes in it.
Yours look really nice!

I used to be a big fan of the early alloy versions of the Elite Ciussi bottle cages until I decided less is more. Have been using Blackburn tubular steel cages on all my bikes until I saw these pop up on Ebay a few days ago. I took the photo with my new replacement camera, which also arrived with today's mail:

This version also has the little buttons to hold the bottle secure, but has a much more svelte overall look. Mighty lightweight, too. I'm gonna try one out on the Medici tomorrow.

Congrats to you. I'm another big fan of those svelte stainless steel button bottle cages. I have 4, one broken. When shopping for my Voyageur, I found two in the same day, one at a coop and the other at a flipper's place. What luck. Have found none since, on my rummaging travels.

I've found they look just right and hold bottles very well. That Voyegeur wore them for 300 miles of the GAP last summer. Full 20oz bottles held fine on that packed stone trail.

Was off the net and social media for the past three months. Got some good riding in since the end of January as my brain wasn’t stuck thinking I needed to check what was “happening” all the time. I did get a couple of shirts during that time. I’m sure there are a few here that can identify with them as I do.

@52telecaster, where did you get those taillights?

@mkeller234, everyone says those tires live up to the hype. Of course, you'd expect cyclephiles to notice tiny differences, but @ascherer put them on his sweetheart's bike, and she loves them.

Tom, I took the bike out for a 10ish mile ride with my daughters trail-a-bike attached. It wasn't blazingly fast, but considering it was on a mountain bike, with a child attached... 10.6 mph average was ok. The tires felt nice and cushy over bad pavement, that was noticable. I'm going to play around with the inflation to see if I find something I like better.

I don't think you'll see much difference in speed readings, especially under conditions like that. Mostly, good tires "feel" fast without being significantly faster. Reducing fatigue is worth a lot, though.

Bought 4 sets of on sale Panaracer tires last week. I'm a little concerned that the next couple of years might be cloudy with a chance of unobtanium.

I got this on eBay. The person was asking$34 plus shipping. I offered $25 and I got it. It will hang on the wall over the parking spot for my Medici in my new(still being worked on) bike area at my shop.
