The article says that "at the going rate of $100, you can buy a used track bike." That's around $580 in today's dollars. It might be tough to find a good one at that price.

I read that and wondered if a any BF member was prescient enough to stock old track frames when few people wanted them and then benefited from selling into the SS craze.
I'd love to hear that story beginning to end.

So, is "this is the longest brake cable you can buy" longer than, say, a tandem cable?

In ‘73 I bought a track bike for $125. Higher price justified by inclusion of both Magistroni cottered and Campy Record Pista cranks. All inch pitch. And a Swallow saddle. And Cinelli#1 steel stem and ‘bars. And the bike was an A.M.F. Gloria La Garibaldina Extra. Crows foot tied and soldered Campy wheels with Weinmann Weltmeister rims.

No no one knew one single thing about Gloria. All the other nice parts were just normal for a track iron. The crown was already drilled, a Weinmann 500 went in. It became my snow bike and winter trainer. Used it for two or three seasons, sold it for the same $125.
