Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Did not know that. I am meeting Cliff at 7 am to get his pair of park tool pliers. Hopefully this will take me a short time and I can get a ride in. I am hoping the chain length is fine, it will be nice not having the chain slap when I am on my smaller chain ring. Appreciate the help today.

Man, I used to spend every Sunday (or sometimes Saturday) in the summer doing a tri in the morning, coming home, and zonking out with a nap for a little while. I was in my 20s, and seem to have survived the decade since.

Slow and steady wins the race completes the brevet.

Couldn't help but do a few laps on the velodrome the route passed by:

And nothing quite lifts the spirit like the sudden appearance of Lake Michigan at mile 110

If you take both pulleys off the whole plate comes off, unless it's something I've never seen. Better if you can get the chain tool, of course.

That wasn't a zoo bear. I only posted the tweet because it had video of it.

If I was legitimately nearby I would stop by. But I don't get out much. I rarely make it to Chattanooga, even.

Here's some football for you since KSU highlights are unavailable. Second longest winning streak in America.

You are forgetting about the Mighty Pitt Panthers at 3-0. The lesser known KSU beat the sooners of Oklahoma in a stunner. Also interesting was LSU losing to Miss. State.

Too bad you can't make it down to the ATL, we could have had a hoot reminiscing. Speaking of hoot, HOW BOUT THEM OWLS!

I have successfully used needlenose pliers to open those, BUT success was hard won, at the cost of bloodblisters. The pliers not only pop those open, they can also be used to fully extend those so you don't have to do the brake/turn cranks thing.

Where?
Our furthest point by linear distance from the home dock was Smith Cr. near Pt. Lookout at the mouth of the Potomac, i.e., about 60 nautical mi. However, it takes well over 100 miles of sailing to get there. We went to many other places on the way there and back, including two nights at the dock to sit out a wet front.
