...these 80's PX Super Comp's are nice bikes. As already stated, tighter and quicker than than the 70's decade, and the components are better. Not as much to replace if you want to ride it hard. They do dance around a little bit in situations like bumps or light rail tracks. On mine, it's not unusual to feel it sort of jump sideways a little sometimes in the back. But that's the nice springy road feel you want to absorb shock, so if you're not some "stiff bike so I don't lose any energy" compulsive, you'll probably enjoy it.
If you need to match the paint, It's most easily done in a two step process. first the closest white you can find (usually a shell white or a French white), then a pearlescent transparent over that. Testors sells one called "White Lightning."

...when there is aggravation on one of these deals, I usually assign it to a different category. The "it might be nice if it happens, but don't put too much of yourself into it" category. That's the one where the pprice I'm offering goes down in inverse relationship to the amount of aggravation. That way, if it does happen, I feel better about the purchase. I try not to get too identified as the new owner on these, until it's home in the garage.

Just got myself a nice PY10 (living where you can see france from the balcony has its perks) which i think is a 1978.
it is not 100% catalogue conform but i see no reason to believe any parts are not original; I saw comments that real life bikes often were equipped with other quality parts available.. mine has Helicomatic hubs laced to very nice Mavic clincher rims, and Simplex instead of Spidel.
btw: Anyone knows whom i have to kill to get tthe color code? like it a lot...

Very nice bike. I like the color a lot too. The pearl white is nice but I was always a sucker for metallic or pearl aqua, teal, etc. I saw that color in the catalog and would be thrilled if this one was that color. I'd be even more thrilled if the seller would respond, I'm starting to think this isn't going to happen.

I'm beginning to wonder if something happened to the guy. I went through the same ordeal a couple years ago on some bike parts with a guy from the same area. He finally got back to me a week later, he'd been in an accident and was in the hospital. Hope it's nothing like that.
I did some more research after looking at other things he had for sale that I was familiar with and he was right there on pricing for almost all of it so I started looking at completed auctions for Peugeots of similar quality on Ebay. I'm afraid he's not as high on asking price as I thought. In fact I'm thinking he's right on the money if it's no worse than the pictures show. I'll still try to get a better deal but I think I'm going to end up paying a bit more than I had hoped. But then I usually do.

In the words of the immortal Etta James, " Aaaaat laaaast..... " It's on for 5:30 this evening. Says he's out of town and will be back late afternoon. Got the " look" from my better half but I've culled the herd considerably this year and I'm giving the garage a DEEP DEEP clean so I get a pass on this one. But the garbage men will be cussing this morning LOL Thanks for all the encouragement, great advice and tips. Wish me luck.

a note to Bertin jim: In the 70s I thought the Ideale 2002 had the perfect shape for my rearend and the right amount
of flex too. I put over 100,000 on mine. never got the chance to try out more "modern" saddles as I was "puttin in the miles"
on what I had and found no reason to change. a customer gave me a back-up replacement which even though drilled
didn't flex as much as my broken in one (yes you can break in a plastic saddle)

We, the bike and I, are home. The guy turned out to actually be super cool and you should see the rod brake Raleigh he has! He admitted he's not really a bike guy but he picked it up to flip and liked riding it so much he kept it.
Back to the Peugeot, it was a LOT rougher than it showed in the pics. Lots of rust around the BB and stays and this funky brown crud along with it, it's on the aluminum parts too so it's not rust. Most of the actual "rust" is staining of the paint but there are several bubbled areas, none of them looked more than surface deep though. The chrome on the fork is good at least, and none of the other chrome pieces have any rust. The wheels are good but they have zinc plated spokes, that's a bummer. I'll have to get busy on my wheel building practice so I can re-lace these with stainless spokes. The saddle is toast but when I rubbed dirt off the aluminum brakes, stem, and seat post they looked really good under the dirt. The rust is a downer for sure but I figure an Oxalic Acid bath and a couple coats of clear and it will look a lot better. The rest should clean up very nicely and while it won't win any beauty contests it will make a sweet rider. I don't know, if the components clean up good enough and I can find the correct decals I might just repaint it.
I got him down quite a bit and I was going to push harder but I've never even seen one of these in person and it's my size so I probably paid more than I should have but I still feel pretty good about it. None of the other kids on my block have one LOL. It was dark by the time I got home so pics will have to wait until tomorrow.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly........
The more I look at it the more I think it's getting a repaint, especially since VeloCal reproduces all the decals in a wide range of colors. Given the overall condition of the bike I would likely do a color change. I've always wanted a bike painted Pearlescent Candy Tangerine (Orange) or about 64 other colors LOL. IT's dirty, grungy and rusty, I see more corrosion issues on the wheels and I can't even ride it in it's current condition but I already love it! I see more than one or two of my other bikes hitting the block come Spring. I still feel I overpaid but that's on me and I can live with that, I WANTED it even as sad as it looks. I paid $175 and drove 200 miles round trip to get it. Wherever it had been stored it didn't get rescued any too soon.
OK, here we go.......... Pics Round 1

Pics Round 2
I apologize if there are repeats......
This is the front wheel, a lot of corrosion on the spokes, nipples and eyelets. I may get different rims for this bike and rebuild on the original hubs with stainless spokes then build a set of wheels using these rims and a set of Normandy high flange hubs I have to put on the Gitane Interclub. I'll have to see how well the rims clean up.

Unless these come up often in your area in better shape for less money I don’t think overpaid at all. I’d $175 for that, even with the driving. Nice bike!

I got a lot of the brown funk off it and it does look better but I found a small dimple in the top tube just about center on the drive side. The light has to hit it just right to see it but now I can't unsee it. If I just do an OA bath and clear the bike I'll leave it. If I decide to go ahead strip and repaint I'll fill it but it's only abut 1/4" in diameter at the largest and maybe 1/32" deep. I want to tear into is so bad but I am in the model of a major garage cleaning and purge and I need to get that a lot farther along than it is before winter. I am a pack rat descended from a long line of pack rats but I'm finally tired of it and "treasures" are flying out the door. If not on FB Marketplace then in the recycle bin or the trash bin and feels good!

I found one of my keepers had minor kickstand damage and another has a teent tiny ripple on the seat tube. I lost sleep for two, maybe three days and then I slowly came to terms with it.
