Fork Question - Anyone have a Cruiser fork apart for measurements?
I've always missed the springer fork on my last 2 cruisers. I know they're not the end all be all for suspension but they work well enough and more importantly they look pretty cool. From my searching the standard springer that Electra offered was for their generic Cruiser 1 and hasn't been offered for years and even then didn't have any way to mount front brakes. Me being a larger guy and having a few hills I'm not going to forgo front brakes. The only remaining option I've found is the Monark and to be honest with the Electra's longer headtube it may not be enough.
Monark Lists their headtube at 7 inches with the top 2 inches being threaded. I've looked at my bike (2019/20 Cruiser 7D) and without taking it apart and pulling the race off (which I'd rather not do) does anyone have one apart and could measure it from the base to the end of the threads? My eye-ometer thinks its going to be more than 7 inches but would love to know for sure.
Before this gets off topic. NO I don't need a springer fork, its about want and I think a Monark Springer with a Disk brake would look pretty sweet.
Thanks

You can get a good idea by measuring the length from the bottom of your head tube to the top of the upper headset nut and adding 1/4" or so for the bottom fork race.. Many aftermarket forks specify 200mm (about 8") overall length with the top 100mm (about 4") threaded.

If thats the case then I think its too long for the monark. IIRC its about 7 1/2 I havent seen a springer that long.

Forgot to ask if your headtube is 1" or 1 and 1/8. If it's the latter, look at Ruff Cycles; expensive, but nice and 300 mm long so needs cutting (and an "Aheadset-type headset).

I think a member on RRB was having an issue with the monarch disc springer. Most of your typical, generic, standard cruisers have a seven inch headtube, including the cups. Electras and other pedal foward style often have a longer headtube to compensate for frame design and rake. The actual fork stem is going to be an inch or three longer to fit the top pieces on it. The inner bearing race, main nut, lock ring.

Monark got back to me... No this will not fit your bike. Well that answers that, no springer for Joe.
