My Molteni tribute build. Originally a 1988 SLX CE frame that was in pretty poor shape. I prefer original paint, but given the prices of genuine Molteni frames, and I wanted to ride it, I came up with this build. Rides very nice, groupset is Campagnolo Record 8 speed, freshly built wheels with NOS Campagnolo Omega 19 rims. The Cinelli 1A stem is a nod to the original Molteni builds.

Still coming to terms with this one. I finally had the legs on the last ride I took on it for the bike to show me what it can really do. Still not certain this is a keeper for me.
I do like the feel of the Eurus wheels on it better than the much lighter tubular's above.

What is that on the top tube? Some sort of insect or small lizard?

Thanks! Bars are Cinelli Giro D’Italia. I wanted the shallower drop with the ErgoPower levers.

1989 Merckx Corsa Extra 56cm (center to top) in SLX.
Mostly Ultegra 9spd, with a C-record headset and Ti Chorus seat post I had in a drawer for a couple years. Cinelli stem and Giro D'Italia bar.
Very nimble without being twitchy. I think better tires and some fine tuning would make this a keeper. Definitely a head turner.
As found versus as being ridden. I have a few different ideas in mind for how I would build this ideally, but for now it's dialing in the fit and riding it with most of the parts that came on it.

Does this qualify? 2024 Project.
Actually a Kessels Eddy Merckx that some idiot powder coated very badly. The powder coat was full of lumps and bumps that showed from several feet away. A previous owner then happily painted over it in FIAT silver.
Just to complete the mess, they then added cheap and nasty Eddy Merckx stickers.
Tried sanding it back to remove the bumps and lumps and still retain some powdercoat as the undercoat. Hit bare metal pretty quick so now the powder coat has to come off completely.
I am now in the process of stripping it with some of the nastiest chemicals on the planet....
One huge positive out of this experience is that the bare frame is in great shape underneath all this 'extremely misguided restoration' attempt. Given all that preceded my acquiring the frame I was kind of expecting a cracked frame.
Still some powder coat to be removed but am well on the way.
Now to find a good local frame painter.

A nice early Merckx?
Well, Perhaps not. Try zooming in.
Painted by the Eddy Merckx factory in 1980 based on details contained on the steerer tube painting notes.
Note: Picture has been posted on another Merckx forum as well.
Tried to get details from the Merckx factory 5 or so years ago but not surprisingly, they never responded.

I found a Merckx saddle on eBay that matchy matches my Domo Farm Frites MX Leader.

New bar tape, hoods and saddle on the '84 Pro SLX. It's the bike I've owned the longest...long enough for two resprays and a re-chrome.

Thanks.
We share an affinity for white saddles, bar tape and hoods.
