Cycling Items That Exceeded Your Expectations In Use/Function/Value
I thought I saw a thread on cycling items (equipment/clothing/accessories etc) that cyclists on BikeForums had bought, use(d) that exceeded their expectations in terms of quality, functionality and value, but apparently I am mistaken.
I find myself looking for that thread when shopping for cycling items, as a starting point, but no luck. I even contacted a moderator through PM, still no luck.
Anyway, if this thread works the way I envision, I intend to argue that it becomes a sticky, or at the very least, a thread like the "cycling items purchased recently" thread.
So please post on this thread items that has been fantastic buys in terms of quality/functionality and maybe, just maybe, value.
What did you buy, use, that you will buy again at the drop of a hat?
Be brand specific please.
Thanks.

Gore WindStopper jacket. Pricey for my tastes at £80 but I love this.
MerinoWool base layer. Pricey again at £50 and could have bought it cheaper online but didn't know what size would fit me. Since the LBS gave me the opportunity to try on the garment before I buy, then that's where I spend my cash. Another excellent product for winter.

Specialized S Works shoes. These feel like a pair of slippers and yet are unbelievably stiff for power transfer and feather light for climbing.
Not cheap, but still a lot less then a comparable Sidi high end. I have put over 6000 miles on mine in a little less than a year, including 5 Double Centuries. Get a pair, your feet will thank you.

I have been very pleased with my Garmin too. The other item I am very pleased with is my Magic Shine 900s. These lights are great and not mucy money.

Wrong forum, but my Old Man Mountain rack is my favourite purchase. And that was true even before yesterday when I got hit by a car and it barely got bent out of shape while my rear wheel is toast.
#2 and 3 would be my Lake MXZ302's cycling boots and my aerobars (Profile Design T2+, although it's not really the model as it is the fact they're aerobars)

Specialized Armadillo, yeah heavy but I used it several times on GMR climbing rides as a training tire for Ride Around the Bear, 5000 miles total without a single flat.
Velocity Deep V. Clearance rack $25, 20,000+ miles. Still true, only retired due to a worn brake surface. Still using them but buying from JensonUSA for $55'ish. I live close so no shipping. $15 for spokes and I'm good for another 20,000!
Sefas Seca, $24 at REI. Wear much better than a GP4000 and better flat protection. I use GP4000's on one of my bikes and yeah, better flat protection for half the price. I put them on our tandem replacing Cont Gatorskins, better flat protection for 2/3 the price.

Vittoria Randonneur tires (35x700)- I've got about 7,500 miles on the bike, have replaced the rear once due to tire wear, but have yet to have a flat.

Let's see.....
SRAM Force shifters and RD $expensive
Blackburn blinky-thing $forgot
Shimano 105 Pedals- $65
Columbia Fleece Vest- $2 at goodwill
Shimano R096 shoes- $65 on mega clearance at LBS
Michelin Krylion Carbon tires- $80 at LBS (no flats)
That's about all I've bought...I guess I make sure to buy things that won't disappoint me.
Edit: Smartwool armwarmers: amazing, plus mine have little neon green, pink and blue pin stripes that go all around it. Sounds lame, looks awesome. Thank you dividend.

everything I have that is Gore Bike Wear. Arm Warmers, Knee Warmers, Leg Warmers, etc... everything far exceeds expectations.
