If you're planning on using it for actual pursuit racing, the track forum would be a better place to ask.

Honestly I can't imagine any pursuit frame being good for street racing.

These bikes aren't really pursuit frames though. Most newer bikes with forward sloping top tubes simply have longer seat tubes to imitate an older pursuit look. I have a Lo Pro and I love it (and I have done a few street races on it), but it's not a pursuit frame.

haha I was just writing "these are 'fake' pursuit bikes though. I don't think you can handle the real thing on the streets," before I got a notification that you quoted me.

Out of curiosity what would fall into the category of a pursuit bike if the bikes that were listed by training wheels aren't actual pursuit bikes?

A "real" pursuit bike would be one that was designed to be raced on the track and also has a downward sloping top-tube such that the top of the head tube is significantly lower than the top of the seat stay, ideally with a 650c front wheel. Such a thing does not exist because UCI regulations actually forbid having this kind of geometry. The only thing that would be close is an old frame which historically would have been a "real" pursuit frame. If you get something like an Affinity lo pro you should realize that the downward sloping top tube is only for aesthetics rather than for actual racing performance.

Does someone know the year that these regulations started? I have a feeling that they were made illegal just to stop Graeme Obree but I haven't found an article that explicitly links the outlawing of pursuit bikes to a specific year. (bad google-fu).

The Felt Tk1 is one of the standard track pursuit frames. Its a pretty good one to look at to see what a pursuit bike looks like. It has a very short headtube, small wheelbase, slightly more laxed headtube and slightly steeper seat tube than a sprint bike, and a long top tube. Along with all the crazy areo stuff, especially on the headtube/ steerer.

This, too, made me laugh.

OP, you do not need a pursuit frame to race street races. Any fg frame will work, trust me, I've done it.

That being said, if you want 'pursuit style' frames (emphasis on style), Training.Wheels named the good ones:

Cinella Bolt, Cinelli Histogram, Leader Kagero, Affinity Lo Pro, Leader 722 Lo, Brick Lane Bikes makes a few frames, etc.
Used to have a Bolt that I really enjoyed. I liked it better than my 722, because it was lighter and stiffer with a slightly shorter wheelbase (better turning response).

There. I tried to be helpful.

are you doing like street time trials?

if your riding in these "street races" with others, its prob better to get a regular old track frame designed for mass start use

What he said.

Currently riding a Mash Histogram for street pursuit/time trials. Love it, but virtually any track frame will do. At the end of the day it is all about the engine.

Bleh. Merckx-style > all.

Just get the one you think looks the coolest. Actually, get the one that you think other people will look the coolest, because that's obviously all you care about.
