More Gloves Opinions...Gel Padded or No Pads?

I have found some pretty comfortable gloves that I like...The Fox Ranger Gloves. They also make the glove with padding... I hear the padding helps with numbness in the hands, and especially on paved roads I do sometimes feel some tingling. Nothing drastic, but a little.

How many of you use gloves with padding and how many prefer a thinner glove?

Absolutely minimalist gloves for me, no padding, no reinforcements, so long as they are full fingered. I once crashed on the road wearing 661 Raji gloves, very minimal. The gloves were absolutely shredded, being held on only by the elastic wrist strap, BUT....my palms and fingers were totally unscathed. Just my opinion; sore hands are more apt to be caused by bad positioning and fit, rather than lack of glove padding.

I agree that 99% of the time padded gloves are a bandaid for hand numbness.

That being said I love riding with padded/gel gloves. I'm a heavier rider (180 lbs) with a little more weight on the hands and padded gloves are great. There are times I ride without but I love the gloves.

Also I like gloves with the terry cloth back to wipe swear, snot, blood, bugs... etc from my face when riding.

Full fingered in winter/cold weather.

Gloves do not help too much with the numbness. That is a nerve thing. Good hand position should avoid most numbness.

I have to agree with this. You might try ergonomic grips, and experiment with different positions.

I prefer little to no padding on my gloves. Also prefer harder grips.

I have minimal padding on my gloves. I just need enough but not too much where I can't get the "feel".

I prefer a little to no padding. The primary reason I wear gloves is to save skin if I go down.

I like the hard backed with liner on the palm side. I wear these things out so fast you would think they were cheap. The hard back prevents twig stings across your knuckles when you're thrashing a trail. I've used several different brands and they all seem to disintegrate in less than a season of riding.
