Back on the bike!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Back on the bike!

Albeit on the trainer, I finally got back on the bike after having had the following from a MTB accident:

I didn't fare too well either. Roughly 10 minutes of spinning at only around 60-70rpm. Got my heartrate up and believe it or not, made my legs feel just a little bit. Mostly my chest hurt from sucking a little wind. I know, I'm out of shape - time in the hospital, 20lbs of weight loss, and NO activity for two months will do that to you. Two months to the day from my accident!

At least I'm back on the bike!

Wow, congrats on getting back on the velo!

Always amazing that humans can recover from stuff like this, although I'm sure it's a less-than-amazing experience for you.

I'm glad your back on the bike. Congrats. 20lbs of weight loss! Whoa. I gotta get off the bike. BTW, you have a small white glove located in your lungs, might want to get that check out.

Maybe that's why it hurt when I began to breathe hard. Hmmm...

Great job on getting back on your bike! I would have given up biking after something like that! How long did you stay in the hospital? That seems like a very severe injury.

Believe it or not, I was only in for 9 days! Amazing what they can do.

The first two days I thought I'd never ride again; that feeling is steadily waning.

Great to see a fellow southern Indiana rider bounce back from something like this, I won't lie that x-ray is pretty disturbing. By the time it gets above freezing and the snow melts you should be good to go, good luck with those hills down there!

Ouch - hip replacement. I know my injury was serious, but it always seems like other people's injuries would be a more painful recovery. Good job getting on the trainer - I hope we can both be smart and not try to push it too hard too early.

Congrats - 20 lbs of weight loss = Lance-like ability! Keep up the good work - you've got good reason to enjoy the holidays.

You got screwed. that's a lot of titanium. Congrats on being back at it on the trainer. Get a bike fit before you try to do much on the road. That long a fusion could really limit your flexibility. Strangely, I can come closer to touching my toes since my L5-S1 fusion, but I had a lot of nerve damage.
