@juvela, long time since paths crossed. Hope you are enjoying the holidays. @repechage I didn't know that. I had a 79' CoupeDeVille in 88'. My brother worked at a plating shop and did all my inner and outer handles, dome and emblems. I was a teen and got free plating what can I say......Loved that caddy ride and saw it around for years after I sold as there were no others like it. Have owned several since.

My 1980 Bertin C37bis with gold anodized Simplex and MAFAC components.
Hadn't trimmed the brake cables yet because the bike was still new...

When 1930s Professional Six-Day racer Torchy Peden retired, CCM presented him with a gold plated Flyer. It's resides at the Canadian National Museum of Science and Technology but is often loaned out for exhibition. It's not the only one. A former forum member (he hasn't posted in 4 years) also has an inter-war gold plated Flyer. Better than a gold watch, eh?

I wish I grabbed on of these when the novelty had worn off and before they became collectible.

Styling.
thr D.I.D. Nickel chrome plated chains actually were pretty sparkley.
Early 1975 - I really wanted a black bike with black anodized Campagnolo parts then the chrome bits gold plated, black rims, gold plated spokes too.
was in a rush so never did it. Would have looked very JPS Lotus F-1 though

How 'bout a gold 'grill'? You know... teeth! I am not a big fan of gold colored components. Gold painted frames ... yes. I am not a fan of most black colored components, either. I like 'shiney' chrome and aluminum!
