Would you have started doping if your team manager asked you to?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You are back at 20 years old
you just got recruited by a pro team, you won the junior championships riding clean
you get in the pro peloton, you are able to follow and pull on the first stages
but you lose your endurance after 1 week of racing and can’t compete in the mountains
your team manage comes see you privately and tells you you have the determination and that you could win
he tells you that everyone body on other teams do micro dosage of EPO to stay undetected
he tells you that if you want to win and continue on the team you have to start the secret sauce to
you sacrificed everything in the last 5 years to reach the level you are now
would you have agreed to reach the level of the rest of the peloton or would you have rejected the offer?

I've never raced. Maybe you'll tell us how you handled it?

I wasn’t pro
i was training for medchool during the start of the racing seasons,
i have a friend who took 5 years off to compete in tracks olympics. He had a fracture and didn’t qualify.
I don’t think I would have doped because I didn’t make enough sacrifice to reach a high level in the sports but If I had sacrificed 5 years of my life to reach the pros and everyone doped in front of you I guess I would have not done it because I had another option in my life

Is there a "daydreaming about what might have been for ex-racers over 50" forum?

Cool. Here's another. You are on a bike tour and camped at a lovely and isolated spot. Jennifer Lawrence rides into camp and confesses she's long harbored an intense desire for old fat men. You've been happily married for 40 years. Would you have rejected the offer?

fify. And yes, it's called "Foo"

This isn't the racing forum. It's not former racers forum. It's not the former racers reminisce forum. We get it, you think you coulda been a contenda, but this isn't the place for discussions on doping.

No, I could have not been a pro contender
i just road cycle for fun
I am just starting a discussion on road cycling forums about road cyclists who have raced and could bring interesting discussion viewpoints.
If you don’t have anything I interesting to say, don’t come lure the threads into negativity.

I can't find it but I think, back a number of years ago when doping was of interest, there was a sticky thread in the racing section. I could be wrong, it's been awhile.

Why are you assuming the team manager is a he?

It's 2020 you know.

Besides the bickering, drug threads aren’t generally allowed. Have a nice day.
