Thank you all again for the feedback on this.
I went to a different LBS yesterday that had both the 17.5" and 20" in stock and it turns out the 20" fit me the best. they let me try both bikes out in the parking lot. I think like sh00k mentioned above the other LBS was just trying to get rid of what they had on their floor. So hopefully now in about a week I will have my new 7.4 FX in crystal white. Thanks again!

Congrats my friend and welcome to the FX club yeah, there is no way you would fit on a 17.5" frame... you'd look like one of those circus bears on a tricycle
post pics when your ride comes in. i've always loved white FX's and my wifes 7.3 is white

Hello,
I am new to biking and this forum. I finally realized that I had to get into better shape so I figured a good bike would help with that. Ive always just bought cheap walmart bikes and didnt know any better on how bikes rode. I started to research bikes and this forum gave me such valuable information that about a month ago, I decided to go with the 7.2fx. Since I am just starting out, I figured I didnt need a super lightweight bike with the best equipment on it becuase afterall, I was already making a huge upgrade from the walmart special
I love everything about this bike and OMG its insane how much difference it makes having a good bike versus a $120 bike. I took a chance and ordered the Waterloo Blue without seeing it and im so glad I did. It looks neon blue and really stands out just like the green 7.3fx I saw at the Trek Store.
Since I'm an out of shape overweight smoker trying to quit, I cant go really long distances (longest was 14.4 miles at 12mph average) and have put 94 total miles on it. My hands get sore after about 8 miles so Im looking into getting some bar ends to change it up. Anyone have any good suggestions on brand or kind that would work well?

Love theses bikes and all the pics! Been thinking of getting a 7.3 but I will be riding riding on some old gravel roads and pavement that is rough in spots as well. How will these do in the gravel?

Good evening everyone,
My name is Mike and I'm new to this forum. I just purchased a 2015 7.3 FX last week in Lime Green. I only had a chance to ride the bike a couple of times. But fell in love with it! I also have a 2014 Trek 3500. I will be riding my FX more then my 3500. How do I post a picture on this forum? Sorry I'm such a newb.

Looks like the 7.3 has 32mm aw1 tire, same as my 7.4; It can handle stretches of gravel road that are a mixture of packed dirt & stone traveled by vehicles. If you're referring to a road that's freshly dressed, majority loose unpacked stone, long durations you're going to deal with unsteady slipping. Rough pavement not a problem as you can run a lower pressure to accomodate. You could always swap out for a more agressive tread pattern if it doesnt do what you need. The 32mm aw1's really lends itself to running at max pressure on smooth pavement and does well on cinder groom trails.

Hello everyone,
Hope everyone is able to see the picture. This is my 2015 Lime Green 7.3 FX I have only ridden this bike a couple of times and I liking it so far! This is an awesome community and looking forward to sharing my pictures and experiences with you all on this new Hybrid. This is my first hybrid. I also have A 2014 3500 MT that I also like to use for light trail rides. I purchased this bike because I would like to have a lighter bike for riding in the city. We'll hope to hear from you guys soon.

Hello fellow Trekkers!
I just purchased a 2015 Trek 7.1 FX, 20" Frame. I'm interested in purchasing a rear rack along with panniers and a trunk bag. Purpose will be mainly for trips to the grocery store, riding to the beach (here in MA we have to pay up to $25/day for beach parking so biking in a mile or two is a nice way to go), all-day city riding, etc.
I'd like my rear rack to be as versatile as possible, allowing panniers on both sides as well as a trunk/rack top bag. Would be great of the panniers were the hang over style, but not sure if this interferes with mounting a trunk/rack top bag.
Rather than reinventing the wheel, and painfully learning fit/sizing limitations, does anyone have any recommendations for a (1) rear rack (2) trunk/rack top bag and (3) rear pannier combinations that work well with the Trek FX series?
Thanks so much!

New rider with a new bike this month. Got the 7.2 FX in red.
Added front/rear LEDs, water bottle cage, kickstand, saddlebag and duo trap s with Trip 300 computer. Everything I need. This combo has got a Clydesdale who hasn't rode a bike for 20yrs to ride over 200 miles this month...probably 250 by the 30th. Loving it!
Quick question: How long before I should take this beauty back into the LBS for that initial adjustment on gears, cables etc?

Hi all. Just bought a Trek 7.2 2015 and really like it. I would like to upgrade the pedals inexpensively, upgrade the grips and upgrade the seat. I'm 5'10" and 249 lbs. Any advice on these things would be appreciated. Cheers.

Hey MidLife50. I was told by my LBS that I should come back after 30 hrs of riding or within 90 days of me picking up my bike. You might have to ask your LBS about that. Congrats on your 7.2! Awesome color as well.

Bar ENDS or Ergon Grips. Seat might be OK, try it for a while. Pedals - I like the Shimano dual sided clipless/platform pedals.

I have a Trek Interchange rack...came with an older FX that I had. I have heard good things about Topeak racks as well.
As for a rear bag, I picked this bag up (paid less...price seems to have jumped up):

Some shops though probably only have stock of the older model where it wasn't possible, so you may need to look around.

Hello, I recently bought a 2014 7.2FX WSD and I'm really enjoying it so far. Carbon grey color. My main upgrade so far has been an Ibera frame and trunk bag, I'm planning on getting Ergon grips soon because I am having serious numbness problems. I'll post a picture after that upgrade is done.
Done a little bit of cycling around Delaware Park in Buffalo, and this last weekend I went on a nice ride with my BF (and his "second best" older Trek 7500 with replacement everything) from Goat Island in Niagara Falls to Lewiston and back. A lot of fun! Really enjoying the bike and hoping to get more kilometers soon!
