700c wheelset

Wolber GTX rims.
Suntour GPX hubs.
Velox rim tape.
126mm rear spacing.
The wheels are in very good condition, they're true and round. The hubs have been serviced, cups and cones are excellent. One of the original skewer nuts is missing.

$70 and shipping.

I'm in Fresno. Probably looking at about $20 max for shipping.

Nice wheelset and good price. If I didn't already have two similar wheelsets I'd be tempted. On the '89 Ironman I have the same original Suntour GPX hubs laced to Araya CTL-370 "Super Hard" rims. The other road bike has Shimano 600 hubs laced to Wolber Alpine rims. At a glance they look identical and perform identically.

Those 1980s wheelsets are ideal all-rounders for real world conditions. Tough, easy to true, suitable for every clincher I've tried from 700x20 to 700x25, and impervious to crosswinds (unlike my sorta-aero wheelset with only 30mm high rims and aero spokes -- those things amplify buffeting from crosswinds, tho' not as badly as contemporary aero wheels).

I'm always pleasantly surprised how much abuse those classic 1980s wheelsets endure on our bombed out pavement, chipseal and uneven paving when the earth heaves and creates 1" or higher sharp shouldered ledges. I need to tweak a couple of spokes maybe once a month and usually don't even bother to remove the tires. Maybe once a year I'll do it properly with tires and tubes removed, oiling the nipples to prevent spoke twisting.

If I could find a set in that price range for cassette freehub I'd pounce. Nearest I've found is a new old stock Vuelta with unknown make rims and hubs.

Had I seen these a month ago who knows....

This is as good a time as any to convert to 700c. All you need is 4mm more in your brake pad slot on your calipers. Or a rat tail file to make it happen. Just sayin’

That is the plan after I get the GPX wheels mounted and try them out, and one of the reasons I decided to go for the spec wheels. Checking CL I see like wheel-sets listed for between $120 and $220

I know this is a long shot but is this still available and would you be willing to part with just the rear? For whatever reason the RB1 I just bought only has the correct front. Just like me know price either way if so!
