Zefal HPX

Is this indent in the handle international or is it damaged?

it seems too uniform to not be intentional but it would make it harder for a pump peg to secure it.

I own 4 HPX pumps and they are all like that. It is so that the pump can nestle into the top tube/seat tube junction if you install it vertically alongside the seat tube

The other end should have a curved plastic pieces. If you mount it parallel to the seat post with the fitting end down the curve seats over the side of the top tube. Notice there is also a hole in the cent for a pump peg. Depends on the fit too.,

thanks, that’s what I thought too.

But the material is not very grippy and just slips off the tube easily.

I'm going to order some of those Zefal 105 XXL pump pegs I’ve seen on line.

Needs more compression to stay on, so you need a smaller bike and shorter legs, or bigger pump. Or a pump peg. I still use the HP that I bought in 1982. Great pumps.

its a number 4 already.....I couldn’t bring myself to buy a Silca which is offered in significantly longer options.

There is an umbrella clip for those pumps. I have both the clip and an HP and a HPX pump but someone swiped the insides from the heads.

In the 1980s I was given a Zefal HP pump (I asked for it) after a customer brought it into the bicycle shop I was shopping at. The pump had been run over by a car and was semi-flattened. I took the pump home and used a long wood dowel to restore the pump to its proper roundness. I then took the pump back to the bike shop and showed it to them. they were amazed that it still worked. I had that pump for many years after. I don't know many bicycle pumps than can be brought back into service after being run over by a car.

I wish the HP and the HPX pumps were still sold new.

Cheers

How are you mounting it? This end needs either a pump peg/nipple/umbrella or an acute frame tube angle to work. They are nice pumps.

As far as I know the HPX is still being made and sold brand new. Bought mine last year. Zefal still ships out replacement parts if you e-mail them.

I have a "newer" HPX. It looks a bit different, maybe a bit sleeker. It is even compatible with Schrader valves. I bought it about 15 years ago. I would attach a photo, but I am too lazy. Honestly, I love these pumps when I go out on group rides. When someone flats, everyone looks at me and says "who has a real pump"
