Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't know. Robert Horry was a customer where I used to work. I'm not a little guy and he seemed like a monster to me. If I saw him in a mall he would stand out and he is not among the tallest players.

Did 50 miles and the sun never came out so it didn't get hot. Fun ride but offshore winds are coming later.

The last two days the weather had my hopes up that fall was indeed on its way. It was all a cruel trick, today was hot and sticky.

I am ashamed to say that I didn't know this. Ashamed because the apple business kept me fed, clothed, and sheltered during my youth, and put me through college. Hell, my Dad was literally the guy who showed Mister Rogers how apple sauce is made, and I didn't know that. Dad would be spinning in his grave, if we'd buried him instead of leaving him on a shelf with Mom.

I believe that cruel trick is pretty much the definition of Fall - the air is cool and crisp, then hot and muggy, then cool and crisp again. Then something else.

It was such a nice break from the heat! It's been well over 100 for weeks and over 115 this weekend. This was the coolest ride I've had in a long time. Fog and overcast all day. I hope it continues.

Even at 20 mph average speed that's over 15 hours of saddle time alone. Not counting getting ready, showering, maintaining chain to proper lubricated state etc. (Napping)
Have you no lawns to cut?

You'd be amazed how much time there is for such things when there are no children, no pets, a lawn the size of a postage stamp baked by the Texas sun, and a supportive spouse. Wake up, thump out a couple of hours, quick shower, telecommute. Then on the weekend put in some longer rides. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy. Sorta.

Also, triathlete. The chain is happy if I spray a little lube at it from across the room.
