Question for the love of crap, and all that is rolling, i'm going STEM crazy!

my trek 7300 has this stem..
https://www.cycleworld.co.uk/Products...able-Rise-Stem

i would like to get a stem that will allow me to sit more upright.

so i thought if my stem is 35 degrees this stem is from 70 upwards, then surely it would more upright,... right?

well wrong..
https://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CCkQ8gIwBA#

now as i try to read stuff, i'm thinking thoese measurments arnt' aboslute by an offset from 90 degrees, so by replacing 90+35=125 into 70-90+(130) degrees i ended almost exactly where i was before with almost 15 dgrees difference which isn't noticable at all.

so what stem get be more up right then what i have ? is there any such legan?

The angle specs on the Dimension stem are a little weird, as most manufacturers list stem angle as 0º when the stem is straight out from the steerer tube, not 90º (although 90º makes more sense to me). So the Dimension stem goes from -20º (70º - 90º) to +40º (130º - 90º), giving you a 5º increase over your current stem.

However, that Dimension stem looks exactly like the Nashbar stem that is currently on my lady's ride, and given that Nashbar often rebrands components, I'd wager that they're the same stem. If so, then that stem can actually be adjusted to around 55º:

The little white dot next to the pen tip is the angle indicator, and you can see the stem adjusts past the 40º mark. I've ridden with this stem set like this off of curbs, on dirt roads, on gravel, over rutted ice, and down to -20ºF with no trouble, so I'm not worried about the safety of setting it beyond the manufacturer's indicator. It does have a couple degrees worth of play when you really reef on the h'bars, but that is there even when it is set within its normal range.

This might help you compare stems

https://www.brightspoke.com/t/bike-stem-calculator.html

Also, you might consider handlebars with more rise and sweep.
