New and perplexed on what bike to get!

So I got my first bike which is the trail 2. I love it so far. However, Iím perplexed because I do equal city biking and mountain biking.

I can keep the trail 2 for my commute then get a pro trance 29 2 (on sale for $3883) for the continental divide trail (to say the least for Montana roads). Or I could get the Tcr advanced sl2 by giant for the city or 2019 TCR ADVANCED pro team . I canít decide what route is better

Welcome to Bike Forums.
I can't help with your bike choice.
Check out the various sub-forums.
Bikes: Old steel race bikes, old Cannondale race bikes, less old Cannondale race bike, crappy old mtn bike.

Welcome! I'm going to assume you're from Mt because of the road comment. Bike choice is a relative thing dependent on your personal needs and tastes. But I'm sure if you ask in one of the subforums as mentioned earlier, you'll find lots of people willing to tell you what you need (and like)

Back in July 2010 I rode the CDT on a dual sport motorcycle. We saw several mountain-bikers riding the trail while we were on it. In fact, we met a guy in Silver City, NM (about 200 miles from the Mexican border) who had made it from the Canadian border to Silver City in something like 23 days. I was awestruck. If that's where you are headed in terms of cycling, my hat is off to you.

Sorry, I can't offer any help on bike choice beyond what the others said.
Current bikes: '80's era Cannondale police bike; '03 Schwinn mongrel MTB; '03 Specialized Hard Rock (the wife's)
Past bikes: '97 Giant ATX 840 project bike; '01 Giant TCR1 SL; and a truckload of miscellaneous bikes used up by the kids and grand-kids

Status quo is the mental bastion of the intellectually lethargic...

Howdy! Choosing a bike is a very personal decision. That being said, I would suggest test riding both of them to see which feels the most comfortable for you. If you are not feeling like it fits you perfectly, you won't rid it. Good luck!
