Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like :The Dirty Kanza". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

SSCX bike regulations?

My apologies if this isn't the right forum, but I haven't found an answer elsewhere. Are there any rules governing bikes and tires for SSCX, or is it pretty much anything goes? For example, can I run a 43mm 650b wheelset? Could I run a SSMTB? Thanks!

If its not a uci race, run what you brung. If anything you see more flatbars in sscx than drop bars

Thanks. So to confirm then, single speed is not UCI sanctioned?

Sscx is just single speed cyclocross. Did you mean sscxwc? That is a uci race

Technically its limited to 33mm. But the races I do are pretty laid back, and people just run whatever they have (including mountain bikes). Maybe if you are taking podium in a UCI race, someone might protest - but most of the time CX people just want to have fun.

Ultimately that is a question for the race organizers.

What chas58 said. I'd check with the organizers to be sure, there are usually rules about having 2 brakes and no forward-facing extensions, but I would bet that they're going to be fine with whatever you show up on. My local race series will even let you ride a geared bike with zip-tied shifters in the SS race.
