So, there is a group called “Morning Cranks” that does a ride out of huntington woods at 5:30am most weekdays. Some of them are commuting in that area. Generally, I don’t see many people commuting in the DMZ between 6mile and 8mile. Most people generally stay above or below that line; most people do that zone between Livernois and Woodward. You can see it pretty well on the Strava heatmap – it kind of has an hourglass shape necking down at that area. Don’t know if that helps ya…

I think my big fear besides dogs is 2 legged critters, with guns.

Wow. 28 feet of climbing. That's over 3 feet per mile!

I know, right? That is why I got a fixed gear for commuting.
My mountain bike rear derailer self destructed on one commute, and I couldn't go mountain biking any more until I fixed it. FG is light, fast, and super low maintenance.

There is always Texas. I lived 60 miles from the ocean and was at 50 ft above sea level. And they wonder why Houston always floods...

Too slow ?
I think there is a light every half mile or so, and a couple major roads (1 xway) in there. Not bad for a scared white man w/ Afib.

There is a cyclist I follow on Strava that commutes daily. About six miles each way. He seems to do this daily, usually on non-rainy days. This is near Brighton. I might also do it this summer, but that is about 2 hours each way (Brighton to Plymouth, along the Huron Valley Trai, Wixom trails. to the I275 trail and down).
