Schwinn Voyageur rack question
Hi there! I just picked up an '89 Tenax-tubed Schwinn Voyageur and in the course of doing work on it (pictures to the "Show me your Voyageur" thread pending), I noticed that the lowrider braze-ons are NOT threaded. A standard M5 bolt will pass right through, and an M6 will not fit. I'm wondering if this is normal, did blackburn racks in the late 80's not use threaded bolts to mount to lowrider braze-ons? Are there suggestions for mounting lowriders short of using a super long M5 through the brazeon with a nut on the inside of the fork legs? Are my fears about bolt breakage from this set-up unfounded?

I have almost always mounted racks using machine screws or bolts with nuts.

I used Blackburn Custom low riders on mine that require a bolt through with a nut.

Yours are normal, OP. Use a nut and washer.
