Rent-a-Bike for Fun in Downtown Milwaukee?

In a few weeks, I am going to be going to Milwaukee with my wife. She is going on business (and I am tagging along), so I will have two days where I am going to be alone during business hours.

Is there anywhere downtown where I can rent a slow, comfortable cruiser or three-speed bicycle for a few hours? Since the city is along the lake, I assume there has to be some fun, recreational stuff within downtown.

The only caveats I can foresee are: 1) I will be there at the end of April, so maybe it's too early in the season, and; 2) I will be there during a Monday and Tuesday, so stuff might not be open during the week, during the day.

Also, does Wisconsin have helmet laws? I wear a helmet while flying along the street at home, but I don't plan on wearing a helmet to bum around by the lake on a cruiser at 6mph.

P.S. Anything else I can do during the day, during the week, alone, for two days (music event? cycling?)? I don't know a thing about Milwaukee, except for an amazing Asian restaurant that I probably can never find again...

Helmet law in the home of Harley Davidson? Um, no.

'Fun' and 'Downtown Milwaukee' are words you hardly ever see together.

Yeah, a little early for the fun outdoor kind of stuff. Weather has been good but who would have known?

Obviously the Capt has never been to Summerfest!

Unless the word "drunk" or "beer" are in the same sentence.

I'm not sure about renting a bike in MKE, but there are plenty of nice areas to ride.

Ya, I am just going to bring my own bike on the back of the car. I have 9 hours to ride, alone, before I pick up my wife, so I am going to ride the Hank Aaron, Oak Leaf south of the city, and Oak Leaf north of the city until I get too scared. That's only 59 miles of biking, though (4.5 hours for me including a stop for lunch)...so I will STILL have over half a day to kill after all that...and I don't drink beer, not even root beer, so maybe I will just have to go skinny dipping in the Lake until I get caught...
