Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

New frame day!

Recently my Schwinn Tempo passed away, this is the replacement, a red Marotias pista.
Marotias was a Spanish frame builder , not that well known, he made some frames for Eddy Merckx.
I think this one maybe is one of his late works, after his dead ,Marotias frames were Razesa frames with stickers.
Some Marotias have the characteristic union between the seat stays and seat post, mine not
I think is a pretty good buy, the quill stem is seized though

Marotias is written near the headset

The head tube is pretty long, maybe they wanted an upward position.

It came with Campagnolo G.S. cranks

The frame is numbered at the bottom of the head tube

Some BB drain hole action

Frustrating when the wedge is just rattling around and the stem itself is stuck. If you are lucky, it is just a too-thick coating of paint holding the stem stuck.

I would try penetrating oil first, then 50/50 Acetone/ATF.
