140 Ultegra disc on the front?

Hello!
i was wondering if one of you here in the forum can help me. I want to install a 140 Ultegra disc on the front instead of the standard 160mm.
i have heard some rumors that it is supposedly very easy and I just need to rotate a part of the caliper??
any ideas?
cheers
Tyll

Welcome to BF....

Read the description of each sub-forum and post in the right one. Surprisingly, many of those that can answer your question don't frequent this sub-forum as this is about fitting YOU to the bike.

It depends on if your caliper is mounted directly to the frame or if there's this removable bracket it's mounted to. If the latter, the bracket will often say something like (this side up for 140/160mm etc.) and you should be able to just reverse the caliper and remount it with the other side up.

Why would you want to swap to a smaller rotor though? Is it just to match the rear? My understanding is that larger rotors = better braking. It might not be the best idea to mess with that.

the set up is universally 160 front 140 rear , or maybe 2 x 160.

front is where the effective braking is.. that why the 140 is on the back it just is not needing to be so powerful because it's being unweighted..
