Anyone have 700x32c on Wabi Classic

I’m about to purchase 700x32c gatorskin for my wabi Classic and wanted to know how much clearance will I have with Tektro brake calipers.

If you have mounted this size on your wabi can share the fitment.

thanks.

32 x700 has almost zero clearance on the rear brake bridge on my Wabi. If a caliper seated below the bridge, it would def rub on some tire.
Even a little bit...

what brand tires and calipers are on your bike? Does yours rub at all? Do you regret buying the size and would you recommend it or size down to 28?

do you mind sharing a picture.

thanks

I put 32 Gatorskins on a lightweight. It was tight but they fit.

Wabi Classic has more clearance than the Lightning. I haven't tried 32s on my Classic yet, but just eyeballing it, I think they'd fit. Wabi's website says the Classic frame fits 32s, FWIW. The brake calipers are longe reach so they won't be a problem.

While you're getting new tires though--consider something other than Gatorskins. The Wabi has a great steel frame that can feel much less lively when you use a stiff tire, and Gatorskins are stiff as heck. Check out Gravelking slicks or something. Plus at 32mm you don't need such puncture protection--the lower air pressure and greater air volume makes you less likely to get a flat.

It would be nice if all tires advertised as 28mm or 32mm were identical, but sadly they aren't. Some brand's 28mm are very different from other's 28mm. It can be frustrating.

I have a Special (obviously a different fork) and I run 700 x 32 Contis. I put a IRD B49 caliper on the front. Plenty of clearance on front and rear wheels. (no rear brake)
You should be fine with the roomier Classic fork... (These are the orig Wabi wheels, I now have a different set of wheels on the bike, still run 32s) The stock Wabi rims are kinda narrow for 32s, I think the wider rims I now use give a better ride with the fat(ter) tires..

Another "interesting" fact= those 700 x 32 Contis actually measure 28 when installed on the stock Wabi rims.

that’s very interesting. I’m assuming your wheels are the 700?

Yes. That's the only size I've ever used on this bike.

IIRC the Gatorskins I had at the time were hardshells so even less feel. If I were buying specifically for the bike I would try Conti GP5000s.

I did some research on tire and rim compatibility (Based on the width of your rims). I have the original wabi wheels which measures 12.6mm (very narrow) Based on the width of 13mm the highest recommended tire width is 25mm (The chart below the narrowest rim is 13mm) But I think you can push it one size up at 28mm. If you have Wabi’s original wheel set I’m thinking 32s will be too wide for your rims. I ended up just ordering the 28c gatorskins

here’s a link on the chart =. https://www.wtb.com/pages/tire-rim-fit-chart
