Let me preface this to say that I cannot play well... but I'm tryin. My step sister plays and picked it up quick while in her late 30s. She finally shamed me into getting a guitar so I bought myself a Yamaha entry level for my 60th birthday in Jan of last year (2019). A few months later in March, we spend a couple weeks at our house in NH and I was talking to my sister about trying to learn to play. The next day she shows up with these two and gives them to me. Her husband was in a few bands in the early 70-early 90s but he passed in the mid 90s. These were his. I dated both of them but don't quote me on the dates, I don't feel like looking them back up. There was a 3rd guitar and an amp she gave to one of the neighborhood kids. I cannot help but think it was a late 50s Les Paul and some vintage Marshall.
The white one is a 1985ish Carvin V220. If you watch the official video for the annoying "We Built This City" you can see Craig Chaquico of Starship playing one. The red one is a late 70s Guild D25 . I packed the Carvin up in its hard case and flew to TX with it. The Guild I left in NH.
Both guitars had problems when I got them. The Carvin has a stringlock on the headstock. When tightened down it chops the B string. Seems like an easy fix, have not messed with it. The Guild has a shrunken pick guard which had split the top wood from sound hole to bridge while curling up about 3/8 inch. Coincidentally I had just watched a StewMac video on how to repair it. Since I was leaving the guitar in NH for 4 months or so I de-strung it and peeled off the pick guard and let it rest till I got back. When back in TX with the Guild guitar that August I was able to repair it using the StewMac video then reapplied the pick guard using carpet tape. It has great tone, even after its issues. Anyway, sorry for the long post (tldr I know) I got the Bm chord down if you give me a sec to get there, that F chord is a stretch.

Nice D25. That one has a solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides. The arched back is laminated. Some of the D25's were all solid mahogany, top, back, & sides, with a braced back. Others were all mahogany with laminated arched mahogany back. The back on these had no braces, and didn't need them. Your's is another variation, with a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, with an laminated, arched mahogany back. They are all great sounding, well built, guitars.

Mrk, I love those Vox Pathfinder 10, tiny lunchbox sized practice amps, they are really fun and probably the best tiny practice amp. The only way that they would be any better would make them so that they had some rechargeable battery that would allow them to go anywhere where there is no electrical outlet. It is an amazing little beast for just $89 total cost.
HERE ARE A COUPLE OF SIMPLE, EASY TO PLAY SONGS For You Wannabee Rock N Rollers........... most stuff is simple to learn and play........it is all the dang scholars that try to present everything like it's being taught to music major degree candidates at a reknown four year university.
Keepin' it simple. PAPERBACK WRITER can be played with just two chords G7 and C. You can use the four-string version of the G7 chord which is just your index finger fretting the first string at the first fret (....well just behind the first fret...not on top of it.....you know that...but we say at the first fret.....)
You can also use the ultra simple four string version of C chord which is just the index finger fretting the second string at the first fret and your bird finger fretting the fourth string at the second fret................you do not play the two fat strings.... IF YOU WERE TO PLAY THE UNFRETTED 5th string while trying to play this ultra-simple fourstring C chord, you would get an Am7 chord instead.
********************LEARN THESE SIMPLE FOUR STRING chord versions IF YOU CANNOT YET DO THE typical 5 stringed C chord or the typical 6 stringed G7 chord where you gotta add your bird and ring fingers down.........................Guess what, you also have the ability to use the fourstring G chord in many songs the same way.........as you know, the fourstring G chord is just your PINKY fretting the first string at the third fret.......................got it.......it doesn't get any simpler................once you immediately get that, you'll be able to much easier learn to swing over the ring finger to the sixth string third fret and the bird finger to the fifth string second fret TO PLAY THE SIX STRING VERSIONS of G or G7.

Here is another song that is really cool to play and though it isn't as simple as Paperback Writer, it is cool to play and is extremely simple to if you don't complicate things by thinking oh darn thats too many chords or that oh I can't transition from that chord to that one......you gotta keep it simple....the old rock n rollers surely did, just because some guitar hero johnny can play it some harder way, does not mean that is how it was originally done..........Simple chord knowledge helps you out.

Keith Urban's instruction method is among the best around if you can grasp it.......all of it is out along youtube and there are some really good simple youtube instruction as well as some not so useful ones.
THE THING IS JUST KEEP ON TRYING and IF YOU DID TRY SIGNING UP FOR LESSONS WITH AN INSTRUCTOR THAT IS TOO COMPLEX OR CAN'T GET IT BASIC AND SIMPLE ENOUGH FOR YOU TO GRASP......WELL FIND ANOTHER INSTRUCTOR because what often happens is that person teaching likely is a great guitarist that just doesn't have the patience to deal with any beginner that isn't a prodigy who understands everything and instantly grasps theory and complex stuff you don't need to know.

1958 Harmony Meteor my dad gave me
late 60's Eko 12 string given to me by my father in law. He had it since he was a teenager.
Gretch acoustic parlor guitar was a kijiji score and the Univox LP was from Facebook marketplace. The DeArmond SG was my brothers first guitar and then became my first guitar about 15 years later. I put the Seymour Duncan Blackouts in it and made the carbon fiber pick plate and truss nut cover myself out of a old hood for a Honda Civic.

This is a Frankenstein I put together from the body of a mid 60’s Kay Vanguard and the neck from a mid 90’s Korean strat copy. The pickups have what looks like a date stamped on the back that would suggest 1966.

Martin Foden Special D. It would be an 0-30 equivalent. Sucker is LOUD! Got it in a trade. Best guitar I have ever played. It is rare and pictured in a book. Unfortunately, I haven't played in a while

Classic concept
The concept is certainly vintage even if the build is recent. This is a 3-string, fret-less, slide, box guitar I built primarily for killer Blues. It has a birds eye maple, book matched top with a maple neck cut from a display used in 1936. The box's volume and tone controls with volume bleed circuit adjust a Seymour-Duncan Hot Rails bridge pickup. This one I keep tuned to D2-G2-B2. Plug it into tubes and it will do it's job, if I can do mine.

The only vintage guitar I’ve had… 1976 univox. My girlfriend had a nice 70s musicmaster and 65 deluxe reverb that I guy to play with tho.

This last one isn't really vintage, more vintage-esque - it's a 2005 J-45 Historic Collection, but it somehow encapsulates everything about every vintage guitar I ever loved, and it is my very favorite guitar ever in more than 40 years of playing.

Oldish Martin
I guess this qualifies as Classic & Vintage....1941 Martin 0-15. This was an uncle's guitar that went to my father when he passed away and disappeared with a sibling when he split in the early 70's. I thought it was gone forever till it popped-up with a brother who had been keeping it out of sight for the last 25 years or so. No longer quite original. The open gear tuning machines have been replaced with current spec Grovers and it appears to have been refretted. The headstock was broken in the 60's and repaired at the time with a wood screw the screw hole can be seen on the headstock still. It was later properly repaired. No truss rod so when it was refurbished some work was done on the nut (original ebony) and the saddle (bone replacement) to restore a decent action. It's all mahagony and has a very warm sound for a small-body guitar.

Most of my guitars are new or modern. The oldest I have is the Japanese 'Columbus' I bought used in 1973 - I'm told it is early 1960's. My first guitar and it still works! I have a new 'replica' of Brian May's 1966 "Red Special". Not an exact copy, but a Harley Bemton approximation of the great man's self built instrument. It still plays beautifully, with excellent mid-range sustain for when I try and fail to emulate my idol's skill! Loving the REAL Classic and Vintage instruments shown here!

Really Junky Guitars that can sometimes fun to play with, assuming that you have some talent to play and the knowledge to set-up & deal with the limitations of such ol' cheapo gee tarz. Somebody who cannot play very well, at least beyond the intermediate stage, should probably continue to learn and progress on a better instrument than these old oddities that require someone who can play well enough to overcome the many shortcomings of most all of these ancient instruments.
Sure, lots of us learned fifty five years ago on these junky Japanese electrics , and with the absolutely horrible American made Stella and Harmony acoustics of the fifties & sixties , because that is all there was at an affordable price point for most folks back then until Yamaha acoustics arrived from Japan around 1969 . At least those cheapo Beatles/British Invasion era Japanese electrics were inexpensive and mostly playable. The Stella & Harmony trash coming out of the Chicago area was barely playable to the fourth fret as string height (action) was typically at best very poor, often approx 1/4" @ 12th fret on those garbage made in USA acoustics. No joke, today nearly 60 years later, you can buy a no-name new China made acoustic or Rogue RA-110D chinese new musiciansfriend's house model for almost the exact price that the trash Stella or Harmony sold for in the 1962 to 1967 era. Those new Rogues aren't great but they are playable and constructed better than the trash Stellas/Harmony acoustics, and adjusted for inflation/current dollar value, the Rogue of today is not only significantly better but also 1/12 th cost compared to probably what a teen-ager or college student had to pay of their hard earned money for the trash US made acoustic in the mid sixties.
IF YOU HAVE THE SKILLS, PLAY WELL AND YOU ENJOY TINKERING & SLIGHLTY MODIFYING THESE , I think you'll enjoy these following Youtube videos:
Today, of course we have the various Worst Act cheapies and the no-name strat copies, some bearing names like Target stores' SPECTRUM models of the past decade which like some Worst Act models are almost about the same quality as current day inexpensive Squiers.
Lets not forget some of the superb ancient 1 pickup student guitars that Gibson made in the fifties and sixties.
Ol' Keef likes those old fifties juniors you know, the single cut and the '59-'60 double cut...

Here's my latest acquisition - a 1993 Fender Telecoustic. Does this qualify as C&V? Matbe not vintage, but certainly classic - and quirky! Hollow sound box with fibreglass back & sides and spruce top. Piezo pickup buried in the bridge with Fender-branded Fishman EQ & Volume controls. Output jack is integrated in the centre of the rear strap button - really neat! 'Electric type' telecaster neck and machine heads make for a great feel and easy fretting though with an all-up weight of around 3-4lbs, it's certainly neck-heavy. The body is a lot thinner than my Fender dreadnought acoustic which is better for me at present while my rotor cuff injury recovers. When practising unplugged, it's a lot quieter than the acoustic. Plug into the Marshall and turn the knob to 11 and it's a whole different story! Loving it so far. it's just so easy to pick this up any timne and play a bit :-)
