Good route from MDR to Will Rodgers?
After some years off, I'm getting back into bicycling again. It's been long enough that I've forgotten some of the best routes and also traffic and streets have changed.
I live in Redondo Beach and an obvious thing to do is explore the bike path along the beach going North. So I rode the bike path from Redondo up to Will Rogers Beach at Temescal Canyon. Even on a weekday morning, some parts of the bike path are just too slow. I know the roads between Palos Verdes and Marina Del Ray well enough. But I don't remember the routes I used to ride North of MDR.
Question:
What is the best road path that parallels the beach bike path from MDR to past Santa Monica Pier? That section of the bike path is way too slow, even on a weekday. Is there a route that is good through Venice and Santa Monica. I'd like to ride North from Redondo Beach then as I improve do one of the canyons. I'll start with Temescal then back to Redondo. When I was much younger I'd ride to the top of Topanga then turn around to go home and there was a way to snake around some smaller streets.
