Take a good look at the 2nd picture. Notice the crappy decals? It's ready for a re-paint.
Just finished 26 miles. Did some hill repeats, despite the standard double and small (for me) cassette. Made myself dizzy and a little nauseous. Hums right along on the flats, though. Saddle is weird for me 9I like the Regals), stem is a 120 (110 might be better), and the gearing is not what I'm used to so it's too soon to tell. I have to fiddle with the fit some, too.
Patience, Grasshopper.

BTW, I did the freehub swap tonight like I told you about, it works just fine. $30 to turn 8 speed into 10. Ill see what I have in the way of 110 stems.

How about new decals instead of a repaint? It really doesn't look that bad. Ship it to me and I'll give you first hand advice. I can ride a 55, no problem.

Perhaps yours has a blemish or two.
Every one of our De Rosas has some paint "issue" somewhere on the bike.
Well maybe not OFG's or Caterhams!
My wife, who is very picky, has never said a word about a blem or two on hers.
Why?
Cause it's really no big deal, and ultimately it's about the ride and overall performance of the bike.
I'd start worrying about that saddle first, surely you must have another Regal waiting in the wings?
I've got a bunch of Cinelli stems/bars here if OFG doesn't, so let me know and I'll dig around for them.
....and finally, enjoy the bike. You waited a long time and she is an absolute looker!

here is mine.
bought in 1973 by the first owner (i'm the 2nd one) at Brügelmann Bikeshop in Frankfurt/Germany.
the formerly owner was a semi-professional cyclist who told me that he rode about 40.000km (including Races in the first 10 years) with this bike. In 1983, when his racing career ended, the frame has been repainted at Brügelmann with the actual blue.
Brügelmann was the biggest bike shop in germany for many years, the owner was a personal friend with Sante Pogliaghi and others. they offered special drillium services
and it was possible to order every single small part you want.(special washer's, springs, adjustment screws etc)

The only bike that I have really regretted selling was my De Rosa. It was a tad to big on the reach. Thanks to a fellow forum member I was able to get another one. This time my size. I plan on changing the saddle to a Regal and the cranks and brake calipers to Super Record. Also I need to figure out the proper size stem. I need to ride it a little more but I think the 85 needs to be stretched to a 100. But overall I love it and am not really in a hurry to swap things over. The campy gum hoods are in great shape other than the left one has a rip. I love this bike.

Not mine, but a friend stopped by and we talked story for a bit while I oggled his De Rosa.
It's been cobbled together from a number of places, including a rear derailleur from Steel Vintage in Berlin. He needed something significant he could bring back in his bag. The De Rosa pantographed chainring wasn't going to do him right as he backpacked a further three weeks.
Anyhow.

Sorted out my 1979-80 De Rosa today.
Built it three years ago and I have been bothered about not shortening the cable housing enough since then. For some reason I also fitted it with a post 1982 front derailleur with black details. I do not know why - I knew it was "wrong" already when I did it.
There is more - It should have globe hoods. I fitted it with shield hoods. This however does not bother me much as original gum hoods are scarce and better to fit the "wrong" originals than the "right" reproductions.

Those flat crown forks look cool. I assume if one has De Rosa unicrown forks that's still ...almost.... acceptable. Flat crown forks on ebay are quite a lot more pricey than frame so not going there, spent all my money on record groupset which does seem to be an important feature.
