Motobecane Tandem in MD $200.
Nice TA tandem crankset on a basic Moto tandem. I love the chain guards on all sides. Local to me if anyone wants it checked out. I have an almost identical Gitane, or I'd be interested myself.

It's in great shape but if you keep you eyes peeled, I usually see a few every year for sale on eBay or CL in the 80-150 range.

How practical are those ^^^^^ folding Pugs? There's one on our local CL right now; I wonder if it would be a good one to stash in the back of one of the trucks.

I bought one for my folks when they bought a 5th wheel so they'd have something to ride around, then fold up and stash. It was fine, but dad says it wasn't worth going more than a couple of miles. Something about the kick just not being quite enough. Felt like a clown bike with a semi-normal crankarm length.

Folding bikes in general seem to be popular in the DC market (and maybe all big-city markets). I suppose there's appeal in being able to fold your bike up in your apartment or your office cubicle, etc. I think it's quirky and would be fun. The price is high for an otherwise "normal" old Peugeot, but pretty low on the whole for the folding bike market here.

2. you can easily bring it on public transport
3. you can bring it into your office
with the advent of decent batteries I see a lot of folders going electric or being replaces with scooters/boards that also hit the 3 points. I am expecting my electric folding bike to arrive in october!

All the extra hardware used for pivoting can make them heavy as hell.
I got one of the BMW-branded Montague full-size folding MTBs for my wife years ago because she wanted something she could toss in the hatch. Same paint/color scheme as pictured here.
While it's a novel feature and easy to use (if it's been lubed over the years) the bike probably weighs a solid 30lb, if not more. Could be much more interesting in Al varieties.

You can store them in small urban homes/apartments. A lot of people with folders are folks who would, otherwise, store them outside, or on a balcony, risking theft and rust. You can easily transport them in a car without a rack, or getting grease on your seats, or removing wheels.
Folding bikes are very smart tools IMO.

But it's got a substantial central-pivoting folding system, that's never given me a lick of trouble. I wonder about any of those old 20"-ers from back in the day, like that Pug. That single oversize main tube, essentially cut in two with a door hinge in between; are those folding mechanisms reliable? At least the one I have my eye on has a Sturmey 3-speed, so it won't feel to clown-bike-ish wrt gearing.

That said, about the pivot on the Peugeot folders, my parents have had theirs for 3, maybe 4 years now? So far no complaints. they take no less than 12-15 trips per year where it gets actively unfolded and used.
