Do you still have the Stronglight 49?

Got out on the freshly built PR-10. Really nice ride. No problems. Everything tight, super quiet. Just need bar tape.

It looks great! Care to share any tips on how you got a brush paint job to look that good?

Sure. There are little surface imperfections here and there in the finished product but you really have to look for them. I'm not that picky. I give the existing paint a quick sand and rub it down with paint thinner. To start gloss enamel has amazing flow properties. So even if you put the paint on haphazardly it all kinda levels flows out when it dries. To get even better glow add a little paint thinner to the paint. Put on super thin coats with a 1/2 inch artist brush. Three coats is usually about all you need. On this project I simply cut around the decals. And being white over white the coverage was excellent.

Thanks. Did you sand between coats to level it and break the gloss?

No sanding other than obvious rough spots. I do 3 coats in like 36 hours, so the paint isnt absolutely dry between coats, so no need to sand. I let the frame dry fir a week before reassembling.

this post got me to thimkin' (rare, i know )

does anyone recall the specific changeover year for the team/house colour from blue to white?

recall that in the early 1960's it was still the deep blue flambouyant with yellow trim

by the time Tom Simpson had become the team's star they had changed to the white with black trim

so change must have occurred somewhere in the mid-1960's
