It would be fun to see the article on bike touring. The ads are great. Please keep the articles coming. This reminds me that I picked up a 1971 bike (a Witcomb) that I need to rebuild and ride!

Very nice. Figure 6 is a classic French touring bike. Check out how the RD is mounted (that looks like it might be a constructeur bike) and the shifter for the FD mounted on the seat tube (at least that's what I think that is). Plus I love the pic of the PX 10 set up as a "touring" bike. The article was pretty clear that in the 70s, most Americans toured by repurposing a racing bike which was not that crazy in the 70s since those bikes often had clearance for decent volume tires and eyelets. The gearing was a whole different story though.

This one belongs to Dale Brown of Cycles de Oro and Classic Rendezvous...
Gilbert Anderson displayed one that showed how the lower coupling worked...

It is interesting to revisit these old magazines, way back I would read them at the public library. I was earnestly saving for a road bike.
as a birthday present in 1972? 73? My mom got me a subscription to the new The Two Wheel Trip mag, thick, glossy, as a charter subscriber even received a poster of the launch cover art. That and the first issue then nada.
the second issue that did make it to newsstands never made it to the house.
by the time I called to ask, their phone had been disconnected.
