700c tube recommendations
I have tubes that are over 10 years old (I bought a bunch when on sale and have gone through them after one or two punctures) and am thinking it may be time to replace them. If they have never been patched should I just keep using them?
If not, what tubes do y'all recommend. I use 28mm Gatorskins and have been using Michelin Airstop tubes meant for up to 25mm tires.
I want tubes that hold air (duh), are fairly light and easy to patch

I also use Michelin Airstop tubes. A decade is a long time. Rubber usually degrade and gets more brittle over this length of time. How do those decade old tubes feel when you rub them between your thumb and finger? They don't feel dry at all?

I still have some spare Nashbar butyl tubes that are 20+ years old. They are fine.

I also agree that 10 year old tubes aren't necessarily an issue.
However, if you want a tube recommendation, the continental race 28 (horribly named) is pretty much the default tube afaik. Never had issues with them.

I found those when I first searched Amazon for replacement tubes but went with Michelin Airstops because the latters' valve stems are non-threaded. Is it OK to use a tube with a threaded valve stem if the wheels come with tubes with non-threaded valve stems?

Non-threaded stems are fine on all wheels. AirStops are a great tube. High quality and will last a very long time in proper storage conditions or through use.

I recently sold an early 80's bmx style bike that had been hanging from my garage ceiling since around 1990. I fully disclosed that it had been there forever and would need tires and tubes but when I got it down I decided to try and put air in the tires and they both pumped up no problem. The tires made some cracking noises but the tubes held air fine.
Unless they've been stored under very harsh conditions, I wouldn't worry about them.
