I got out for a short but sweet lunch ride today. Much easier to accomplish while working from home, and a welcome break from the usual Zwift trainer rides I’ve been doing mid-day.

No pics. Just took out the 760 for an 8 miler as a test run. Wow. Nice bike! Frame looks like crap but I can see this as a n=1!

I've ridden several days in a row (rest day today) and always midday. It was kinda weird the past few days. Monday looked like a typical Saturday morning on Sheridan road. Lots (and I mean *lots*) of bikes were out. Tuesday and Wednesday, despite being as nice as (or nicer than) Monday, not so much. Maybe everybody was so excited Monday they overdid it? Anyway, it was a bit odd not to see more consistent numbers through the week.

Back story is found mostly here: 1984 Trek 760 Build - Finally - Bike Forums
I am currently using it as a "mule" to test out different items.
Right now those items are fit and how bad using a 26 mm bar in a 1R stem for 26.4 bar, along with the first rides of the frame and using Super be Pro index.
The splash tape is what I had available that is disposable. It give me padding to test out the bar without sacrificing a $20+ of HB tape.
This bike, without the bottles and spare is about 20lbs.
Components are:
Saddle: Flite Ti
Post: American Classic
Stem: Cinelli 1R
HB: Cinelli Via
Drive train and brakes: Superbe Pro
HS: current Campagnolo Record from Amazon
Hubs: Mavic 501
Rims GL330
Block is IRD 7 speed.
Pedals: Keo Classic II
Tires: Continental Gatorskins 22mm Tubular (of course)
Chain: SRAM 830?
Cabling: Jagwire

Another lunch ride, absolutely gorgeous out today! This was the first ride on this bike after changing the gearing from 48/16 to 46/18. Definitely an improvement for the hills here, but maybe a bit low. I’ll give 46/16 a shot next before swapping out the chainring for 48/18.

Yowza! 75 degrees today. So nice that a long pull into a headwind didn’t even bother me. It’s been nice for 3-4 days now, but today was the first time I was able to get a real ride in. 30 miles on the Supercorsa in Western Albemarle along the shoulder of the Blue Ridge.
Cows not as into soaking up sunshine as I am.

Just a short ~15 mile loop into the local Berkeley hills. I've been trying to explore some new routes. For those who know the area, I usually climb up Spruce toward the top of the Berkeley Hills and into Tilden Park to start a lot of my rides. Today, I decided to take Euclid instead. I wish I'd done it years ago. The climb is a bit curvier and the steepness more variable. Also offers better views and less traffic. Then I explored a new trail--one I'd known was there but never ridden. Perfect for some Eroica training.

Was so nice this morning I had Elevensies at Bluffington's in Lake Bluff. Took this bad photo on the Bluff's Edge bridge near the McCormick estate. The lake can barely be seen through the trees.
On my way west along Rte 176 I noticed a string of power poles I'd never noticed before. Not a style of power pole I recall seeing before. They each had that little "house" most of the way up the pole as well. Not for holding a transformer I don't think, but what? The string ran pretty much all the way from Sheridan Rd to the Skokie Valley Bike Path before giving way to your typical pressure treated modern pole. This was the first time I'd ridden that path westbound. On other trips riding it eastbound, it was always before the Bluffington's stop so I was probably distracted by my stomach.

The path follows the right of way for the North Shore/Milwaukee rail line. Lots of old artifacts down in the weeds.
