I don't ride on anybody's wheel unless I ask - and likewise I won't let anybody ride on mine. I need to see your cycling ability/skill first. If (and the big IF) you can hold a steady line, steady speed, and watch/give hand signals for road hazard avoidance.
That said, 99.5% of the time I ride solo...

Being offended or mad at "wheelsuckers" is such a weak move. Like dude, just drop me. If you can't, then slow down and let me past. Also, I chase people down, not to ride on their wheel but to show them up. Competitive fun. I love it when people pass me and give me something to chase

I don't drive, but no that sounds aggressive and possibly dangerous, I think racing everyone on the path is normal and all in good fun. Plus, if some dude in a mountain bike passes me its showing me that I need to work harder. speeding up when someone passes you is the norm I think

A few days ago I was riding around tipsy looking for someone fast to follow, and i met this dude on the tail end of a 100 mile ride. I offered to let him draft and then took off, and when I turn around a mile later there he is and I congratulate him on being able to keep up. I wasn't using hand signals or riding like he was there, as far as im concerned its his responsibility to manage his speed and distance from my wheel. He was an experienced cyclist and knew how to handle his bike, so even not knowing my abilities he felt safe to draft. I accidentally dropped him on a hill, and waited for him at the top before bombing down the other side. There was a stop sign that I ran at at least 30 mph, through moving traffic, was a bit sketchy (later regretted doing this because its scary to the cars.) So I guess my point is that if you are skilled, it doesn't really matter if you are drafting a reckless jackass, you can still safely be responsible for your safety. I get not wanting to draft with me though

OP, as others mentioned, just ask. I personally don't care if someone drafts but its safer for them if I know they're there. I'll actually warn if I'm about to stop or dodge a pothole, which I occasionally like to practice my bunny hopping skills on. If I know you're there I'll ride like it, if I don't, don't be surprised if I hop cracks, potholes or try to ride weird things, just practicing MTB skills where I don't have to worry about trees.

Drafting is the only way i can keep up with fast cyclists. I got lucky this morning on my ride and was able to chase a fast guy for like 6 miles, we ran into another guy and they had a little cat 6 race and were drafting off each other, im pretty much dropped but killing myself chasing them. If I could have drafted along with them I might have been able to keep up
