Multi-speed hub for 12" wheel?

I recently acquired a Panasonic Traincle folding bike, this bike is a single speed and comes with 12" wheels. I would like to install a geared hub to tame the hills and add a little top-end speed to the bike. I had a Brompton with a Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub, but the spoke angle would likely be too much with smaller wheels. Anyone have any suggestions?

The first thing I like to do in these situations is to do a search on the Internet, set to view images. People attempt many things, and you can decide which you like. Of course it can be a bit of a rabbit hole as well....

Here is something that I found: Traincle on Bike Forums

Efneo or Schlumpf crankset.

Maybe Dahon K3 wheels.
